I’d realized too late that trapping her in a room to talk to her was a bad idea. It set us back in our relationship, but she finally told me how Joshua used to lock her up when she was ‘bad. I’d had to burn off a lot of anger and frustration that night. Thorin, my wolf, had run for hours, just as furious as I was. Joshua had a mate that he didn’t treasure and took for granted, and she survived. I had a mate that I adored and would have given anything to, and she took her life and the life of my pup.

We’re talking about everything and nothing as we pull up to Alpha Kayce‘ s gate.

“What the hell is this?” I murmur as we pull up. There are warriors everywhere. They surround my car, making me feel very protective of Margot and putting me on edge.

“What’s going on?” I bark, a bit more forcefully than normal, given the nervousness that is emanating off of these warriors.

“Alpha Ezra, Luna Margot. Alpha Robin and Luna Nikki were attacked last night. Alpha Robin is in critical condition in our pack hospital, and Luna Nikki is missing.”

“WHAT?” Margot exclaims.

“Who?” I snarl.

“Camden, Alpha.”

“Who’s searching for Nikki?” I ask, knowing that, as allies, someone is out looking for her.

“Alpha Kayce, Alpha Hunter, and now Alpha Jake. The others haven’t arrived yet.”

I turn and look at Margot. “Go. I’ll go check on Allison and Robin,” she

says.

“Where do I go?” I ask the guard as I get out of the car.

“Check in with Alpha Robin’s Beta, Reese. He’s organizing the search party. He’s in his pack. I’ll call and let them know you’re on your way.”

I turn and look at Margot as she moves across the car to the driver’s side, and I strip off my clothes.

“Be careful and stay safe,” I say, kissing her quickly before shifting and rushing to help find Nikki.

Robin POV

I feel like shit. What happened? Why do I feel so awful?

No response. Why is my wolf silent? Where am I? Where is Nikki? Is she safe?

My head feels like I’m in a haze. What the fuck is going on?

“Alpha, you need to calm down. You’re safe. You’re in Alpha Kayce’s pack hospital.”

And then it all comes flooding back. I was shot, I told Nikki to run, but something hit her in the shoulder.

My eyes flash open. “Who?” I growl at the doctor in front of me.

“It was Camden, Alpha,” he says, and release him. I sit up, pushing the blanket off of me.

“Alpha, you need to stay in bed. You were shot with a silver bullet. Twice.”

“That asshole has my mate. I will NOT lie in bed while she’s goddess knows where!” I roar.

The door opens and Allison walks in. “Robin…”

I frown. Something is different about her. She smiles, touching her stomach.

“You had your baby?” I ask.

She nods. “When we found you, it was…well, Brianna is a healthy baby girl. You, however…”

“Don’t tell me I need to stay in bed,” I say, holding back the growl. This is her pack, and I know she cares about Nikki too.

“You almost died, Robin,” she says, stepping up to me. “You had bullet lodged in your lung. The second one grazed your heart. Is Derric awake?” she asks, keeping her voice calm and her eyes focused on me.

I shake my head no.

“Robin…”
