‘Don’t give up. Our mate needs us,‘ he says.

‘I’m not giving up. I just…‘ Sometimes, it’s almost too much to bear, this feeling of failing my mate. I knew something was coming and I didn’t protect her.

‘Feel guilty once she’s home. For now, focus. She needs us.‘

“Alpha?” Reese says.

My head snaps up and I see everyone staring at me. “Sorry, can you repeat that?”

“I said, when we look at where we’ye searched on a map this is what it looks like,” he says showing me a map with red circles that have initials in them. These are the areas that have been searched, and the initial is who searched it. Some circles have more than one initial.

“We haven’t moved past this area, but now I’m suggesting that the vacant packs would be a good place to hide our Luna. I think we should check there,” Reese says.

I look at the map. We’ve been searching the areas around our packs. places that we thought would be good hiding places. The vacant packs had never occurred to me.

I turn to look at Ezra. “What do you know about those packs?”

He stares at the map for a moment. “They’ve been vacant the longest. To my knowledge, there’s no one left in either pack. They probably don’t have running water or electricity, but that wouldn’t keep Camden from using them. They would have the general amenities that he’s used to…I think we should check them out.”

“Let’s go,” I say, standing.

“Robin, why don’t you…” Kayce begins. EAch time they’ve gone out, they’ve tried to get me to stay behind. I don’t care if I have to crawl on my knees to get to her, I won’t stay here while others are out searching for my mate.

“No! She’s my mate. I’m going,” I say. They should understand my need to find her. They would feel the same if it was their mate out

there.

Kayce, Hunter, and Lucas all have new babies. Amelia does as well. She’s stayed at Kayce’s pack to help out while he’s gone. Hunter, Sophie, Lucas, and Kinsley have moved over here to my pack while Hunter is out looking for Nikki. It gives them less time away from their new pups and mates. Dutton comes and goes, as does Jake. Dutton has two pups on the way and Jake has a brand–new pack that he’s trying to put together. While Lucas and Kinsley have a new pack as well, it was more important for them to stay together with their new pup than to be at the new pack. Margot and Ezra are here in my pack as well. Calvin’s pack was too far away. When he arrived, he helped search for a few days, then said he needed to return to his pack, but that he’d send patrols out to search around his pack for my mate.

The Alpha meeting never happened, and I’m so thankful to my friends who never left. I could not have done this without them.

“We can drive until we’re close then run the rest of the way,” Hunter says. He doesn’t say ‘in wolf form‘ because I can’t shift. Derric is too weak. But I can and I will run to find my mate.
