“Oh, thank the goddess!” she says, hugging me.

“Nikki, you need to feed your son and introduce him to his father,” Hunter says, handing Rory to Nikki.

“Hey, baby boy. This is your dad. I told you he’d find us,” she purrs at Rory. The other Alphas turn as she lifts her shirt, one that smells like one of the other Alphas, and begins nursing Rory who latches on greedily.

I hear Robin gasp, watch as he leans in and kisses the top of his son’s head reverently before looking up at me.

“Thank you. I can never repay you for saving my mate’s and my son’s lives. But I promise, I will do everything in my power to keep you safe and help you in any way I can.”

I nod, shocked at how much love I see between them. Robin scoops Nikki into his arms as she nurses their son and goes to find a quiet place to be with them while she nurses.

I turn back and see the Alphas all starting to clear the space to create a

fire.

“How can I help?” I ask.

“Are you a hunter or a fire builder?” Lucas asks me.

“Then you’re with me,” Alpha Jake says.

I look around and see that all of the Alphas are busy getting things set up to sleep out here tonight. No one is looking at me like Alpha David did, like they want me. If anything, their looks seem more protective, like they keep checking to make sure that I’m okay.

I look back at Nikki and see that she’s snuggled against her mate. They are talking softly while she nurses Rory.

When I turn back, Jake smiles at me. “Ready?”

I nod. “Ready.”

Robin

I knew holding my mate and pup in my arms would feel good, but right now, it’s a soothing balm to the ache that has been in my chest for nearly a month. Watching my son, Rory, nurse is one of my new favorite things to do. Nuzzling and kissing my mate is still one of the best things in life.

“Can you forgive me?” I ask her softly, my voice catching, ‘as we watch

our son.

She looks up at me. “For what?”

“It took me far too long to find you. You suffered…” my voice cuts off again. Now that she’s safe and in my arms, my inability to find her and keep her and my pup safe is weighing on me. I feel useless. It’s a feeling that I’ve never experienced before.

I nod, unable to meet her gaze. She deserves a mate who can keep her safe.

She tilts my head up so I’m forced to look at her. “Don’t let him get in your head. You did find me. Your pup and I are alive and well. He made both of us suffer. I have no doubt that you felt the fire I felt every time he tried to mark me,” she says, making me growl.

“Your wrists, your ankles, even his teeth marks are still in your marking spot,” I say, the fury that I feel for Camden flooding into my system again as I look at what he did to my mate. “You delivered our son while you were running from him. If not for Jacqueline…”

“But she was there, Robin. I know you’re angry at yourself because you feel like you didn’t protect me and Rory. But I don’t blame you. I‘ m proud that my mate is so strong that Camden and his silver bullets weren’t able to kill you. I knew, always, that you were out there searching for me. I knew that no matter how long it took, no matter what Camden did to me, that you would find me and that you would still want me.”
