When we get to our room, I walk into the bathroom and start the

shower for Nikki. I want to be there for her, want to wash her hair and bathe her, but my son needs me too. I let the water in the shower begin to warm and I turn the water on in the sink, letting it warm while I go to get the baby tub that we bought for Rory. Thankfully, my mate is a planner, and she had nearly everything prepared for our son’s arrival

before she was taken.

I get the baby wash, towel, a diaper, and some pajamas and return to the bathroom. Nikki pulls the shirt off and steps into the shower, sighing as the warm water washes over her. I notice that her injuries still aren’t healing, which means that Adira isn’t back yet.
