We say our goodbyes and after I disconnect, I go find my mate. I’m ready to finish what she started earlier.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Koden asks by way of greeting.

“It’s good to see you too. I’ve missed you, Koden,” I say, from the couch where my feet are propped up on the coffee table.

“This isn’t a packhouse. This is MY house. You don’t just barge in here like you own it. Because you don’t. I do.”

“You invited me, remember?” I say, smiling as I take of sip of the beer that was in his fridge. I’ve been here two days. He wasn’t here when I arrived, so I made myself at home.

“That was before you left me to die with Aiden.”

“I knew you were smart enough to get out and I was right.”

“I thought you’d be fucking Nikki’s brains out by now,” he says, going to the fridge and getting a beer.

“She got away from me,” I growl, looking away.

When he sits, he notices my missing foot. “Did she do that to you?”

“Yeah, the fucking bitch got out of her handcuffs and shot me with my own dart gun. When I woke up, I was the one in the shackles. I couldn’t save both feet,” I snarl. I swear I see him smile before he hides it as he sips his beer.

“Well, she is an Alpha female, and you were threatening to kill her pup. You should have anticipated that she’d fight you.”

“I hadn’t fed her in days, and she’d been in the silver restraints since I‘ d found her.”

He shrugs. “She’s still an Alpha female. Would you want some weak female who rolled over and submitted to you at the first hint of silver?”

Now it’s my turn to smile. “Nah. I can’t wait to tame that bitch.”

He stops drinking and stares at me. “You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re still going to try and get her back?”
