“He hasn’t won a pack yet, has he?” Dante sasses her

“Have you?” Jacqueline says, giving it right back to him

Nikki starts laughing. It’s a good, true Nikki laugh that makes me smile.

“She’s really doing great, isn’t she? I was so worried about her, but I should have known that my friend is too strong to let someone like Camden bring her down,” Allison says quietly, walking up beside me as we watch the interaction.

“Yeah, she is,” I say, as Nikki and Jacqueline high-five and Dante looks around.

“A little help?” he asks, looking at the Alphas.

“You started it. I never start crap I can’t finish. Let that be a lesson to you,” Ezra says, walking over to them. “So, are we drawing straws or what?”

Kayce steps up. “I did a random selection last night,” he begins and Allison snorts beside me. “I just happened to get randomly selected to spar with Jacqueline.”

All of us boo him, while the Lunas and Jacqueline laugh.

He splits us up and Nikki gets paired with Ezra while I get paired with Amelia.

“Nikki, are you sure…” I begin.

“Robin, I’m an Alpha female. Adira is back. I’m going to have to start getting stronger at some point. Would you rather that training start with an Alpha who has a lot of self-control, or a warrior who has less control?”

I growl, walking over to my mate and taking her mouth in a quick, but passionate kiss. When I pull back, she’s smiling, knowing she’s won.

“No chest hits,” I growl at Ezra who just raises an eyebrow at me.

“Those are the rules for everyone, Robin, including you,” he says easily. I guess if I had to choose, Hunter or Ezra would have been my first choice to spar with Nikki. Both are older than me, so they have more experience being Alphas, especially Ezra.

“She’ll be fine. Robin: If I defeat you. I don’t want it to be because you were distracted by your mate.” Amelia says casily

I turn to look at her and smile. “You don’t really think you’re going to defeat me, do you?” I tease.

“I guess we’ll find out.” she taunts.

Amelia’s good, but she’s out of practice. With practice, though, she’ll be as good as Nikki. When I call it, I look around seeing that most everyone has also stopped sparring with the exception of Kayce and Jacqueline. As I watch, Jacqueline swings her leg around, knocking Kayce off his feet. He’s up again before she can get another hit on him, dancing around and obviously enjoying himself

“Wow, she’s fast,” Amelia says, watching. Eventually, we all stop to watch as Jacqueline holds her own against Kayce. The Lunas all start cheering for her as the Alphas stand back and admire another powerful female.

“I can see why Reese wants her,” Dutton says. “Good to know she hasn’t found her mate yet. I’m going to let Miles know about her. Hopefully he can meet her soon.

“I have a new unmated Beta too. You’ll have to bring her to the next competition, Robin. Hopefully she’ll be mated to someone in our packs. She’s strong. She’s going to make one hell of a ranked member.”

“I agree,” I say as Kayce finally calls it. Both he and Jacqueline are panting heavily, but both have big smiles on their faces, happy with the sparring match.

“Well done, Beta. That was one hell of a workout!”

“Thank you, Alpha. I feel like I learned a couple of things today that I’ll take with me into my next sparring match.”

He turns to the group. “Alright everyone. Let’s get showered and then I’ll have breakfast brought into the conference room so we can get started.”

As we turn to head inside, I wrap my arm around Nikki, feeling her happiness at having been able to spar again. I’d caught some of her sparring match with Ezra, and as expected, he’d done well to challenge her but make sure he didn’t injure her.

“Hey Kayce, can you make sure that random selector picks me to spar with Jacqueline next time? I’m dying to test her skill,” Ezra says.

“What? I don’t give you enough of a challenge?” Margot asks, seemingly insulted
