He turns and looks at our Beta who is currently talking to Jacqueline. I noticed that the two of them were together all day. I also noticed that he was paying attention when he and Jacqueline crossed our borders and saw the relief on his face when she didn’t smell her mate.

“He’s been very clear that he wants to be in this area, he wants to stay close to us,” Robin says, one arm wrapped around me, the other holding Rory.

“Well, we are pretty fantastic people,” I say, smiling up at my mate.

“I know you are,” he says, leaning down to kiss me while we walk.

“You do realize that could be hazardous to your health, right? Especially when you’re carrying our Alpha heir in your arms,” our Gamma, Harrison, says as he jogs past us. “Did you want me to take the little guy?”

“No, I’ve got him, thank you. But I’ll heed your warning and just stop right here and kiss my mate,” Robin says.

Harrison laughs but continues jogging back to our pack.

Robin takes his time, and I wrap one arm around his neck, one arm around our son, just enjoying this family moment. When he finally pulls back, he grins at me.

“I’m getting more of that later.”

–“You’d better,” I say.

“So, Harrison is competing too?” I ask as we walk.

“He is, but I think he realizes that his odds are slim with so many Betas competing. Speaking of Betas, I didn’t see Miles today.”

“No, Tammi isn’t feeling well, so she stayed home. She apparently has more morning sickness than Tiffany. Miles offered to stay behind so Dutton could attend this gathering.”

“That was nice of him,” Robin says.

“He’s seen the pack lands before, so it wasn’t as big a deal as it would have been for some others who have never seen them. Honestly, I was surprised that Reese took such a keen interest. He didn’t do that with the others, but I guess it makes sense if he wants to stay in this group that he’ll have to work harder to win this pack.”

“Did you see Caleb approach Jacqueline?” Robin asks as we walk into the back of our packhouse.

“I did. Allison and I also saw our Betas take a very protective stance beside her.”

“Yeah, I saw that too. He’s trouble. I know Amelia has a lot going on and things with her mate are still unsettled, but she needs to do something about him before he becomes a huge problem,” he says.

“Hopefully she will. I don’t expect that he could win a pack, but if he does…”

I get us food while Robin feeds Rory and then we spend the evening reconnecting. Thankfully, Rory has started to sleep a little longer, giving Robin and I more time to together.

The next morning, we get up and head back to Aiden’s old pack early in the morning. Since Kayce and Robin are leading this weekend’s event, he wants to make sure everything is ready.

“Hey, Nikki!” Allison calls.

“Hey, Alli,” I say, kissing Robin and heading over to my friend.

“I was thinking that we could start getting ready for next weekend. I think we can assume that we’ll have two long days again. If we start putting together the rosters now, it might be easier for us. And since everyone will have to decide before they leave today if they want to compete, we’ll just have to enter names into the rosters we’ve already set up.”

“Great idea. Where are the others?” I ask.

“Tiffany should be here any minute, along with Sophie, but Letti, Jake, Kinsley, and Lucas are over there with Ezra and Margot talking to the pack members that he brought with him.”

I turn and look seeing quite a few pack members. “Is that all of the ones interested in moving to a new pack?” I ask.

“Kayce said that’s only about half, so it’s no wonder that Ezra needs help.”

“Well, we have space and honestly, by next weekend, we’ll have another Alpha who will need a pack. It’s a good opportunity for all of them,” I say.

“It is. I would guess that some warriors will want to stay with Ezra and either compete for their old pack or wait until a new Alpha takes over so they can move back to the place that was their home. The omegas though…”

“Yeah, they’ll need stability and protection. Not that Ezra and Margot aren’t providing that, but if they don’t have a job, because there are too many omegas, it will make them nervous.”
