Maybe it’s because of her survival instincts from when she was on the run, or from being mated to man who forced his mark on her, but the woman is uncanny when it comes to seeing the nuances in others. “Actually, it was my Alpha that gave me that advice. I’m just reminding her of it,” she says, smiling.

Thanks to Jocelyn, by the time Miles arrives with Dutton’s warriors and Caleb, I feel ready to confront Caleb. I could tell that Miles was anxious to speak to his mate, so I told him to go while I waited for his warriors to unload Caleb from the back of the van. “Right, because how else would Koden have known when and where Calvin would be?” I ask as if we’re slowly piecing together a puzzle. “And who knew that information?”

“Hmmm,” I say, turning to Jocelyn. “Did YOU tell Koden where Calvin was going to be?”

She snorts. “Thankfully, I’ve never met the man, but I surely wouldn’t tell some rogue where my Alpha’s mate was going to be.”

I turn back to Caleb who is sneering at the two of us. He’s always had an issue with women in power positions. “That just leaves you, Caleb.”

He opens his mouth to speak but I raise a finger.

“And what is your role is helping Alpha David kidnap Beta Jacqueline?” I ask, hearing Miles growl somewhere off to the side of where we’re standing. I thought he’d gone home, but apparently he’s stayed to witness Caleb’s execution.

“I have no idea who Alpha David is,” he snarls.
