Two weeks after I killed Camden, I walk out the back of the packhouse with plans to meet up with Reese, Jake, Letti, and Allison. We had planned to meet with Sophie as well, but she’s gotten too far along in her pregnancy to join us.

I smile, thinking of the celebration I’m intending to have with my mate this evening. I stopped by the pack hospital to make arrangements for Amelia to come take Calvin to her pack. Dr. Caspian cleared him for travel, and Amelia is coming this weekend to ride with him. But, while I was at the hospital, I had Brooklyn give me a pregnancy test and I can’t wait to tell my mate that all of his hard work has achieved its goal.

As I walk out of our pack lands and into the area that we intend to make a community area, I hear my name being called. I turn and see Allison making her way toward ine. I smile when I see her unconsciously rubbing her belly.

“Hey girl!” she says, walking up and hugging me.

“Hey, yourself. Is there something you want to tell me?” I ask, making a point to look at her stomach

She giggles. “I’m pregnant. I just told Kayce last night. What about you? You said you’ve been trying again. Any luck?”

“As a matter of fact…” I begin, giving her a knowing look. “But I haven’t told Robin yet, so don’t say anything.

She squeals. “What if this time, I have a boy, and you have a girl and both of our oldest two pups are mated to the others!” she says excitedly. “Then our families would take over both of our packs!”

I laugh. “Then you and I will have quite the time keeping our mates from killing each other.”

“What are we laughing about?” Letti says, trudging up to us. Her belly is starting to grow with her pup.

“Oh, Letti! Jake, why did you let her come? Your pup is getting bigger!” I say, hugging my friend.

“Let her? Let her? I’m sorry, do you know my mate?” he asks, giving his mate a tolerant smile.

“This is important, and Dr. Caspian thinks that walking is a good way to get exercise. Obviously, the man has never been pregnant, or he’d realize that it’s much preferable to walk short distances when your pup

likes to kick your lungs, your bladder, and everything else inside your body,” she grumbles. Jake, without missing a beat, comes up behind her and puts his hands on her stomach, rubbing circles over her belly.

“Why is their touch so magical? When I touch my pup, I swear he’s kicking my hand away,” Letti says.

“He?” Allison and I ask in unison.

Letti opens her eyes and looks at us. “Did I not mention that?”

“You most certainly did not!” Allison says.

“Uh oh. There could be trouble in paradise if you and Letti both have boys around the age of my daughter,” I say.

“You’re pregnant, Luna?” Reese says, zeroing in on me.

“Oh shit! I just found out before I came here. Don’t say anything to Robin. I want to surprise him,” I say.

“You already know it’s a girl?” Letti asks

“No. Allison was just deciding that it would be great if she has a boy and I have a girl this time, then our two oldest children could be mates

and our packs would both stay within the families.”

“I think we should spread the wealth and strengthen all of our alliances,” Letti says, standing up and out of Jake’s arms.

“Save some mates for my future pups,” Reese says. While he says it in a joking manner, I know my previous Beta. He’s desperate to find his mate and start his life with her. I really do hope he finds her soon.

“Okay, so what’s the plan here?” Jake asks.

Allison, Letti, and I show them what we’re looking to accomplish and the drawings that Letti has started. Reese and Jake look around and begin marking out the areas where we’d like to have the community picnic area and playground, the splash park, and then around that, the walking/running trail.

“What’s going on with the conversations about changing the patrol routes to incorporate this area?” I ask as Allison, Reese, and I make our way around the mountain to mark off the trails. Jake and Letti stayed behind to continue marking out the area where they would need to bring water and electricity into the mountain.

“Everyone loves the idea. I think Dutton and Jake like it the most because their packs are the most vulnerable on the western sides. Ezra brought up a good idea though. He suggested we look into buying the land that the mountain sits on so there isn’t any problem with us

I think about that for a minute. It’s brilliant in a lot of ways.

“It would keep us safe when we’re traveling to the new packs for the competition,” I say.

“And provide added protection to some of our new packs. I’m guessing that Kayce and Robin were talking about how our patrols could assist with that?” Allison says.

“Yes. I think for now, it will depend on which pack is next up, but they’re talking about changing that again if we can purchase the land in between the packs. I say ‘we’ but we all know that Lucas, Jake, and I aren’t paying for anything right now

“That’s okay, Reese, it will come,” I say, thinking through this. “This will also make it easier for those packs to come and spend time in the

“He’s been planning to leave for a while, but with the competition for your pack, Calvin’s accident, Alpha David heading to his pack for Jacqueline, and Calvin’s pack being attacked, he’s put it on hold. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem like they are having the same issues with their pregnancies as Letti is and they’re farther along than she is.

“Yes. It’s vague enough that I think it will work. I believe Robin has set up a meeting with Dutton to talk it through before he leaves. Although, we could have the conversation with him after he gets to Ezra’s pack if he’s in a hurry to leave,” I say.

“I get the impression that he’s in a hurry. He wants to be back in plenty of time for his mates to have his pups at home and I understand that,” Reese says.

“How long does he think they’re going to be away? The twins aren’t due for another six to eight weeks,” Allison says.

“I guess it will depend on how hard it is to find Alpha Alexandra and then how hard it is to get her away from either her father or her mate, Reese says.

“Oh, that poor woman. I hope she’s not suffering the way that Jocelyn did. I can understand why the twins are so anxious to help her.” I say
