244 Chapter 244 His Lifeline In The
Chaos
Blanche’s POV
Demetrius called a driver to get me back to the Callum
Mansion.
We didn’t say a word to each other–the silence stretched between us as the car glided through the
streets.
As we crossed Grady Lion Bridge, I glanced toward the other side of the road. Traffic was completely jammed, and crowds swarmed around one spot.
“Looks like there was an accident,” I muttered, squinting at the chaos.
Demetrius leaned closer to get a better view. “Damn,
that looks bad.”
The crowd was so thick that neither of us could make
out what was happening at the center.
Suddenly, someone across the road started shouting,

“Is there a doctor? Someone’s bleeding out! The
ambulance is stuck in this mess. If anyone has medical training, please help!”
I turned to Demetrius, worry flooding my chest, silently asking what we should do.
Without missing a beat, Demetrius told the driver to pull over.
Once we stopped, Demetrius looked at me. “Come on,
let’s see what we can do.”
I nodded. “Let’s go.”
We jumped out and climbed over the barrier to reach the opposite lane.
Demetrius pushed through the crowd, yelling, “We’re doctors! Let us through!”
I stayed right behind him as the crowd parted, leading us straight to the center of the disaster.
The scene was brutal. Multiple cars had crashed, and one had smashed into the bridge railing–just feet from plunging into the river.

A few people with minor injuries sat off to the side, but in the middle lay a woman, barely conscious, surrounded by a spreading pool of blood. A man knelt beside her, frantically trying to help.
From behind, that man looked exactly like Vincent.
But I couldn’t be sure–maybe it wasn’t him.
Demetrius dove into the crowd, immediately kneeling beside the injured woman.
I dropped down too, gently touching the man’s shoulder. “Sir, we’re doctors. Please give her some space so she can breathe.”
When he turned around, my mind went blank. It was
Vincent.
He looked completely shattered–eyes wide with terror, face smeared with blood and panic.
Seeing him like this made my chest tighten with sympathy and helplessness.
Vincent had held it together until now, but the moment he saw me, everything crumbled. His composure vanished completely.

He couldn’t hold back anymore–his eyes turned red as he broke down sobbing.
My heart ached watching Vincent fall apart like this.
I reached out, gently squeezing his hand. “It’s going to be okay. I promise.”
Vincent just stared at me, speechless, his gaze locked on mine like I was his lifeline.
I’d never seen Vincent this terrified before–the image burned into my memory.
Demetrius examined the woman’s injuries and called out, “Blanche, she’s got a severed femoral artery—give me your thermal shirt.”
As a doctor, I knew exactly why he needed it.
I didn’t hesitate–stripped off my coat and quickly pulled off my thermal shirt, leaving me in just a thin undershirt.
Ignoring the cold bite against my skin, I folded the shirt into a tight square and handed it to Demetrius.
He pressed it directly against Lucia’s leg where blood was pouring out.

Demetrius glanced at me. “I’ll maintain pressure here to stop the bleeding. Check her for other injuries.”
I was about to help when Vincent suddenly grabbed my hand.
I turned back, and Vincent whispered, “I’m scared.”
His vulnerability made my heart crack. I gently patted his hand, trying to comfort him. “Demetrius’s here, and so am I. You’re not alone. We’ll do everything we
can.”
Vincent slowly released my arm.
In just my thin undershirt, I carefully examined Lucia’s upper body.
Once I was certain there were no other bleeding wounds, I told Demetrius, “No other injuries.”
Demetrius kept pressure on the wound, sweat
dripping down his face, his hands covered in blood.
He looked at me. “Monitor her vitals. We’ll wait for the
ambulance.”
“Got it,” I replied.

Vincent watched Lucia lying there, her face growing paler by the second, and I could see his anguish deepening.
I could tell Lucia meant everything to him–probably raised him. And from what I’d gathered over time, his father was a complete piece of shit.
His dad was a drunk, a cheater, an abuser–every
terrible thing you could imagine.
But even in that toxic environment, Lucia never abandoned Vincent–she was always there for him.
I realized there were two women Vincent couldn’t live without–Lucia, who raised him, and me, the one who
once saved his life.
It had been a day like this–a car accident that nearly killed Vincent. I was still just a med student then, but I’d thrown myself into the chaos to pull him back from death.
From that moment, I’d become the second woman who meant everything to Vincent.
Now here I was, fighting desperately to save his

mother. The irony wasn’t lost on me–or on him, judging by the raw gratitude and helplessness mixing in his expression.
Vincent’s breathing was rapid and shallow, like his heart might explode from his chest.
When he noticed my lips had gone pale from the cold, worry flashed across his face. Almost instinctively, he shrugged off his coat and wrapped it around my shoulders.
I was checking Lucia’s pulse and breathing when sudden warmth enveloped me. I glanced back, momentarily startled.
Vincent was staring at me, his face still streaked with blood, features barely recognizable–but his eyes, dark and intense, locked onto mine with something raw and desperate.
For a moment, I felt myself getting lost in his gaze, my mind strangely foggy.
Something about Vincent’s expression right now stirred a buried memory, like I’d seen that look before.

Before I could piece my thoughts together, the sharp wail of sirens cut through the moment—the
ambulance was finally approaching from the other
side.
The paramedics quickly jumped out, carefully
transferred Lucia onto a stretcher, and loaded her into the back as the siren screamed, ready to race away.
Watching the ambulance prepare to leave, Demetrius and I both knew our emergency care was done- neither of us had planned to follow to the hospital.
As Vincent climbed into the ambulance, he reached back and grabbed my hand, his voice soft and pleading. “Will you stay with me?”
I saw the desperation in his eyes and hesitated for just a heartbeat–before my brain could catch up, my body was already moving forward.
Watching Vincent reach out, I instinctively slipped my hand into his.
He pulled me in with a firm but gentle tug, and
suddenly I found myself inside the ambulance beside him.

Not wanting to be left behind, Demetrius jumped in after us.
Vincent shot Demetrius a sharp look but stayed quiet.
At the hospital, doctors rushed Lucia straight into the ER, cleaning her wounds, stopping the bleeding, and fighting to keep her alive.
Two grueling hours later, the doctor finally emerged from the ER.
Vincent sat on the bench, head leaning against the wall, exhaustion and worry etched across his features.
I’d asked him to go wash his face, but he refused to
move.
Demetrius, still concerned about me, hadn’t left my
side either.
When Vincent heard the ER doors open, he jumped to his feet, almost shouting, “Doctor, how is she?”
The doctor pulled off his mask. “Thanks to Dr. Jake and Miss Callum’s emergency care, she’s stable–her life is no longer in immediate danger. But we have an urgent problem: she lost massive amounts of blood and needs

a transfusion right away. We’re critically low on type–A blood…”
“I’m type A! I can donate!” I said immediately.
Vincent’s expression turned fierce as memories of my recent procedure flashed through his mind. He cut me off sharply. “No! Don’t touch her. I’ll go to the blood bank and trade my own blood for hers.”
