54 Chapter 54 I Am Finished Caring
Blanche’s POV 1
I checked the time when a trending headline popped up on my browser.
[Zain, the CEO of Jacob Group, Spends Millions on His Girlfriend’s Birthday.]
The headline grabbed my attention instantly. I couldn’t resist clicking.
The article opened to reveal photos of Zain and Joanna from every conceivable angle. They strolled together, Zain occasionally gazing
down at Joanna with a smile, other times protecting her from the crowd.
Joanna appeared bashful, her eyes dancing with pure joy.
Videos showed Zain purchasing countless items for Joanna, personally carrying every shopping bag.
The comment section beneath exploded with envious reactions.
[God, this is pure romance. Being pampered by a wealthy man like that would make me the luckiest woman alive.] [Where do I find a
man like this?] [Hey handsome CEO, I’m adorable too–look my way!] [Rich guys really know how to spoil their women. I’m so jealous.
Any man who treated me that way would get everything from me.]
Beyond the photos and videos, animated images captured fireworks painting the night sky.
As the fireworks exploded overhead, they spelled out: [Joanna, happy birthday. From now on, you’ll always have me.]
Zain and Joanna stood underneath, both looking up at the dazzling display. Even from behind, they appeared perfectly matched.
[My god, those fireworks went on forever!] [I heard they lasted thirty minutes, each one showing something different.] [Really? That
must’ve cost over a hundred million.] [No way, my family deals in fireworks. That many probably cost three million max.] [Three million?
Rich people sure spend big. Those fireworks alone would take me a lifetime to earn.]
Scrolling through the coverage, I suddenly understood why Zain hadn’t returned to Blissfield Villa.
Even during his busiest work periods, he always stayed close to Carry,
Tonight though, Carry was home while he wasn’t. So he really did have something important going on.
I never imagined that important thing was throwing Joanna a birthday celebration. For that, he actually left Carry alone at home.
Bitterness flooded through me as I considered this. Then I couldn’t stop myself from picturing Zain and Joanna in bed right now, lost in
passion.
A night like this would be wasted without going all the way.
The more I dwelled on these thoughts, the more my eyes burned, and soon I was crying silently.
My sobs woke Carry. She turned over and grumbled, “Mom, quit browsing your phone in the middle of the night. You’re keeping me up.”
I locked my phone and whispered, “Okay, I’ll sleep in the guest room.”

Carry rolled over again, already drifting back to sleep without catching my words.
I sat up, my eyes fixed on Carry’s back for a long moment.
Remembering how she’d claimed last night that Zain was simply working late, I found it almost absurd.
Carry’s true loyalties became crystal clear to me in that instant.
Finally, I rose and left Carry’s room.
Sleep eluded me completely in the guest room. I spent the entire night on my phone, watching news about Zain and Joanna dominate
my feed.
When morning arrived, I was fully alert. I decided to prepare breakfast for Carry.
I prepared soup and baked several pastries.
With everything ready, I went upstairs to rouse Carry and told her to get ready. After we both freshened up, we headed downstairs
together.
We’d barely entered the dining room when Heidi’s voice called from the entrance, “Good morning, Mr. Jacob, Ms. Vins.”
I froze momentarily, then looked over to see a stunning couple entering through the morning sunlight.
Joanna must have noticed me too, because she released Zain’s arm just before they stepped inside.
I didn’t look away, simply watched their approach.
Zain looked fantastic, wearing a subtle smile, while Joanna’s cheeks glowed pink, as if she was still radiating from the previous night.
My gaze dropped to Joanna’s wrist, where I spotted an emerald bracelet. It was flawlessly clear and lustrous, obviously expensive.
After Zain entered, he didn’t even glance my way. Instead, he addressed Heidi, “Prepare soup this afternoon. Joanna had a difficult night
and needs to recuperate.”
Heidi’s complexion paled, but faced with Zain’s command, she could only respond, “Yes, Mr. Jacob.”
I was familiar with this scenario. One look at Zain and Joanna told me exactly what had transpired between them last night.
After a night like that, honestly, something happening was practically guaranteed.
When Carry spotted Joanna’s return, she instinctively tried to pull away from my grasp, but I held firm, preventing her escape.
Carry didn’t protest though. Instead, she beamed at Zain and said, “Dad, you must be worn out from working late. Get some good rest,
okay? Mom will drive me to school today”
Zain approached and tenderly stroked Carry’s head, “Good girl, Carry”
Carry leaned into his touch and said, “Dad, I’ll always be your good girl.”
Then she turned to me and said, “Mom, let’s have breakfast.”
I looked down at Carry, my heart aching with bitterness. Is she trying to cover up the fact that her father spent last night with Joanna?

“Mom?” Seeing me zone out, Carry tugged my arm.
Snapping back to reality, I forced a smile and said, “Yes, let’s eat.”
Carry guided me to the dining table and sat down. While I was serving the soup, Carry blew a quick kiss toward Joanna when she
thought no one was watching.
I caught it but said nothing.
When I placed the soup bowl before Carry, I said, “Eat up.”
Carry examined the simple soup and suddenly seemed uninterested. “Mom, don’t we have any sides to go with this?”
I didn’t respond. Instead, I looked toward Zain, who was about to take Joanna’s hand and head upstairs, and called out, “Zain, we need to
talk.”
Zain hesitated briefly and said, “I’m unavailable today.”
I persisted. “What about tomorrow?”
“No availability,” Zain answered coldly.
“The day after?” I asked.
“Already committed,” he replied.
“What about the day after that?” I pushed.
Zain was clearly growing irritated. “How would I know?”
I jumped in, “Fine, then I’ll come by the day after that.” With that, I took a seat next to Carry.
Zain said nothing more and simply headed upstairs with Joanna.
I didn’t watch them leave, but I could imagine they were probably holding hands as they climbed the stairs.
Maybe after Carry and I departed, they’d end up in bed again. But none of that mattered now.
Zain never loved me anyway. If he wanted to be with Joanna, so be it.
Let him do whatever he pleases. I’m finished caring.
For the following two days, I stayed away from Blissfield Villa and stopped preparing breakfast for Carry as well.
Three days later, I arrived at Blissfield Villa after work. I sat waiting and waiting, but even past eight o’clock, neither Zain nor Carry had
returned home.
I couldn’t remain still any longer, so I approached Heidi and asked, “Heidi, will Zain be home tonight?”
Heidi kept her eyes down and answered hesitantly, “I’m not really certain either.”
I said nothing more. I stood up, my decision crystallized, and with unwavering determination, I turned and walked out of Blissfield Villa.
If Zain is going to treat me this way, what am I even waiting for?

From this moment forward, I was done waiting for him. Whatever he chose to do, let him–I didn’t care anymore.
