The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 1031

Mr. Larson's words of absolute trust completely shattered Leilani's emotional defenses.

She sniffled hard, desperately fighting back the tears threatening to spill over. Stepping forward, she grasped his thin, weathered hand tightly, her eyes burning with fierce determination.

"You're right. With me here, you're going to be fine. We'll wait for the results together!"

...

By the time Callahan finished dealing with the hospital paperwork and rushed over to the clinic, the night had settled into an inky blackness.

Pushing the door open, he was hit by the sharp scent of antiseptic mixed with the earthy, bitter aroma of herbal remedies.

His gaze immediately locked onto the corner of the room.

Leilani was crouching beside Mr. Larson's wheelchair. Under the harsh, cool lighting, her slender silhouette looked heartbreakingly fragile as she clung to the older man's hand.

Though neither of them was speaking, Callahan’s sharp instincts immediately picked up on the heavy, unnatural tension in the room.

His heart sank. A bad feeling washed over him—things clearly hadn't gone as smoothly as Leilani had hoped.

"Leilani, what happened?"

He closed the distance quickly, the sharp click of his dress shoes echoing in the suffocating silence.

Hearing him, she turned her head. Her red, swollen eyes and the raw panic she couldn't hide slammed into his chest, making his breath catch.

But mindful of Mr. Larson's presence, Leilani swallowed whatever she was about to say.

Instead, she leaned over and spoke to the older man in a soft, soothing voice. "Callahan is here."

"You've been waiting for results all day, and you must be exhausted. Let me take you back to your room to rest. Get some sleep, and I'll come get you if there's any news."

Hearing this, Mr. Larson slowly lifted his eyelids. His gaze shifted knowingly between Leilani and Callahan.
