The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 1044

"You're quite the spin doctor, Fitch," Callahan's voice was a low, lethal rumble. "So you're telling me that your secret alliance with Talbot, the spread of our fake obituaries, your malicious shorting of Sloan Group stock, and your pathetic attempt to buy up my shares from him... were all just a 'misunderstanding' I designed?"

Fitch's throat bobbed. A bead of sweat trickled down his temple, but he stubbornly stood his ground. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'd never do something like that. I saw the news of your accident just like everyone else. As a fellow businessman, I was deeply concerned."

He raised his chin, leaning into the role of the outraged victim. "If anything, you're the ones who need to explain yourselves. Faking your own deaths, playing the whole world for fools—do you realize the chaos you've caused?"

Callahan watched the performance with icy amusement. "Your acting is truly top-tier."

"Why don't you explain how, within hours of our 'deaths,' you managed to perfectly short the Sloan Group stock? Or how you were the very first person to contact Talbot to lowball him for my shares?"

Fitch's expression faltered, but he quickly recovered. "That has nothing to do with me. And besides, none of those actions are illegal. The acquisition of Sloan shares was a long-term corporate strategy. If you had me arrested over standard business maneuvers, you've overstepped your bounds."

The more he talked, the more convinced he became of his own lie. "Callahan, don't throw around wild accusations without proof. You pulled this fake-death stunt to secure total control over your family's empire. Your family's internal war is none of my business. Leave me out of it."

"Such a shame you went into business," Callahan mocked coldly. "Hollywood really missed out on a generational talent."

He didn't waste another second. He slammed a sleek tablet down on the metal table.
