The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 611

Callahan’s brow furrowed slightly, his tone uncharacteristically hesitant. "What… what do women usually get angry about?"

Letty’s eyebrows shot up, a flicker of understanding in her eyes. She walked back over to her son, a half-smile playing on her lips. "What’s this? Finally ready to admit you and Leilani are fighting?"

Callahan turned his head away, his voice low. "I never said it was about her."

Letty scoffed, cutting right through his pretense. "Besides Leilani, what other woman could possibly get you this worked up?"

Callahan's fingers tightened slightly. After a long moment, he mumbled, "But if I tell her, it won't be a surprise anymore."

Letty shook her head and said no more.

Later that evening, not long after Callahan had left, Dante hobbled over to Letty on his cane.

"Letty, be honest with me," he said in a low voice. "Did that boy Callahan have a fight with Leilani?"

Letty was clearing away the coffee cups. She paused, then smiled. "Dad, where did you get an idea like that? Callahan's just swamped with work at the company lately. That's why he came home with such a long face."

Dante squinted suspiciously. "Really? But he didn't look like he was having trouble at work… He looked like…"
