Chapter 119
Chapter 119
Class 1 of Grade 11
Claudia hadn’t expected Hannah to mention her out of nowhere, and she straightened up in her seat.
But before she could hear what the delegation was about to say, the livestream cut off.
She stayed tense, her nerves still on edge, and it took her a long time to settle down.
Her score wasn’t exactly ideal, 189 points, putting her in fourth place. With that, getting a direct admission to Auburnbridge looked pretty uncertain.
Never in a million years did she expect Hannah to go out of her way to recommend her, especially since they weren’t even that close.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Hannah Carter walked out of the meeting room with two invitation letters in hand and made her way back to Class 11.
The whole class went wild when they saw her walk in.
“Boss, you were secretly hitting the books and pretending to be a slacker behind our backs!” Zoe cried out.
“Wow, so beauty and brains really do go hand in hand. Is it too late for me to start studying now?”
“I still can’t believe I’m in the same class as a study god.”
“No way, I gotta start working hard or I won’t even qualify to hang out with Boss.”
The classroom was buzzing with chatter, and even Megan Lindsay, their homeroom teacher, was drawn in by the commotion.
“Hannah, you really didn’t let me down. Congratulations,” Megan said, wiping away tears of emotion.
She’d always believed every student had their own spark, but Hannah was really something else.
“There’s one thing I just don’t get. Why did you always turn in blank sheets before?” Megan asked.
“They were way too easy. Couldn’t be bothered,” Hannah replied coolly.
The whole class groaned again. ‘So this is the difference between a genius and the rest of us?’ everyone thought.
There was no way anyone could focus on class that afternoon. The excitement lasted all the way until the bell rang. Zoe suggested they should all celebrate Hannah after school, and Avery was all for it, saying her family ran a karaoke bar and she could get them a spot there.
Even Megan was on board. She said she’d come along too, and made sure to invite Owen and Claudia to tag along.
Hannah had always kept to herself, never really caring much about the whole class vibe.
But seeing everyone’s faces light up with excitement as they talked, she just couldn’t bring herself to turn them down.
After school, everyone marched off together in high spirits to the karaoke place owned by Avery’s family.
Hannah bumped into Lucian at the school gate.

Chapter 119
Lucian had been waiting for Hannah so they could head home together. When he heard the group was going to the karaoke bar to celebrate her, he jumped in right away, “Come on, it’s on me!”
Hannah glanced at him, her tone flat. “Do you even have money?”
She remembered that ever since the Scott family went bankrupt, he’d stopped getting any allowance.
Lucian puffed up his chest, looking all proud. “Money? Please, I’ve got enough Tonight, order whatever you want, my treat!”
Hannah was left speechless.
“Boss, haven’t you checked out the school forum?” Zoe asked, seeing Hannah’s blank expression
Hannah wasn’t really into the whole forum thing, but she’d caught bits and pieces today about people losing bets, so she kind of got the gist.
“On the forum, your brother was literally the only one who bet five million you’d actually take the exam seriously.
“Then you came out of nowhere and stunned everyone. Everybody who bet against you just handed over their cash, and the bookie had to cough up another five million,” Zoe explained.
After Zoe finished, she couldn’t help but sigh, “Man, talk about pulling off a heist without even trying. Why didn’t I think of that?”
“Guess what? I’m a millionaire now!” Lucian puffed out his chest, pulled out a card, and handed it to Hannah. “Go ahead, spend as much as you want.”
Hannah was speechless.
‘He doesn’t even realize who got him all that money, Hannah thought.

At Scott Villa.
As soon as Arthur heard Hannah had scored a perfect mark, he clocked out early and came home with a ton of great food.
He even rolled up his sleeves and cooked everything himself, waiting for Hannah to come home so he could celebrate with her.
But just as he finished cooking up a whole table of food, his phone buzzed with a message from Lucian.
Lucian: [We’re not coming home for dinner. I’m taking Hannah and her classmates out to celebrate. Bye, enjoy your meal.]
Arthur lost his words.
He’d gone out of his way to have Lucian bring Hannah home for a surprise, but his little brother totally sold him out and ended up tagging along with them to celebrate instead!
Arthur was pissed. He shot back a terse message: [Pay up.]
Not long after, he got a notification. Five million had just landed in his bank account.
Then Lucian’s WhatsApp message popped up.
Lucian: [Five million, transferred.]
Arthur: [You paid back the principal, but what about that 50% interest you owe me?]

Lucian: [!!!!]
Arthur Though we are brothers, accounts must be settled]
Lucian You’re not my brother, you’re the ultimate loan shark!!
Even though he was a bit disappointed, Arthur didn’t go and crash Hannah’s party with her classmates. He just quietly ate the food he’d cooked with his parents and grandma, then headed back to his study to get some work done.
At 9:30 PM. Arthur suddenly received a location pin from Hannah.
Hannah Arthur, could you come pick us up?]
As soon as Arthur saw the message, the cloud over his heart instantly cleared.
He’d told Hannah before that if she was ever out past ten, she should call him and he’d come get her.
But after that, Hannah never asked him for a ride, and she hardly ever came home. He thought she’d forgotten all about it, but it turned out she hadn’t forgotten after all.
[On my way.]
Arthur shot back a quick reply, grabbed his coat and car keys, and headed out.
Following the location Hannah sent, Arthur parked his car outside the karaoke bar. Just as he was heading for the entrance, a woman’s scream suddenly rang out.
“Ah! Let go of me! If you come any closer, I’ll call for help!”
The voice sounded oddly familiar. Arthur headed toward the noise and spotted a bunch of punks surrounding a woman in the alley next to the karaoke bar.
Under the dim streetlights, the woman had short, ear-length hair and wore a skin-tight leopard print mini skirt with black stockings. Her top had already been torn off by those thugs.
“Go on, scream louder! Let everyone see how the Baker family’s little princess flirts with guys,” one of the punks sneered.
One of the punks raised his hand and slapped Lauren hard across the face.
Lauren’s head snapped to the side, her cheek swelling up instantly. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, tears brimming in her eyes, her gaze was both innocent and tinged with hatred.
She bit down hard on her lip, glaring at them with fierce defiance.
Gemma was still stuck in detention. They’d tried to find Iris in Kinswood, but she was off at a church praying with Mrs. Thole, so they got turned away.
Winston was at his wit’s end, so he told Lauren to go seduce Tristan. He said if she could win him over, she’d be the future Mrs. Pierce, Hannah would be out of the picture, and the Baker family’s crisis might finally get a break.
Lauren felt uneasy about it at first, but in the end, she gave in. Plus, she’d always craved Gemma’s attention, so she agreed.
She thought, if she could just get Tristan to give in, Gemma would be out of jail and would finally acknowledge her.
But she never expected Tristan to be even more ruthless than she imagined. She didn’t even get to see him before those thugs dragged her out.
Lauren’s glare just got the punks even more riled up. They started grabbing at her clothes all over again.

“Why are you acting all high and mighty? Dressed like that, you’re just asking for it. Mr. Pierce wouldn’t touch trash like you. so let us show you a good time instead,” one of them sneered.
“Ha! Scream for us! What, lost your voice now?” another jeered.
Just as the punks were about to tear off Lauren’s clothes, a man’s voice suddenly shouted, “Stop!”
