Chapter 129
Chapter 129
It was a set of legendary Sterling Gold Needles, custom-tailored just for her.
“Do you like it?” Barnaby asked.
Hannah nodded. “How did you pull this off?”
She was stunned, Barnaby had actually convinced the reclusive heir of the Sterling clan, who hadn’t made needles in ages, to craft a set just for her
“I told him I wanted to craft a set of golden needles myself for someone who means a lot to me, and asked if he could show me the ropes. He agreed to teach me,” Barnaby said.
He made it sound so simple, but in truth, Percival had to comb through the mountains just to find the Sterling clan’s heir.
Even after they tracked him down, it took a ton of convincing before the guy finally agreed to give some guidance. Only then did the real challenge of making the needles begin.
Every single needle in the set was handcrafted by Barnaby himself. He’d never done such intricate work before, and after countless failed attempts and wasted materials, he finally managed to produce sixteen perfect golden needles.
‘Could it really be that easy?’ she wondered.
She didn’t buy it for a second.
Even though Hannah had no clue what Barnaby had gone through, she was sure this set of golden needles must’ve taken a lot of effort.
Compared to the custom canary diamond cufflinks she’d ordered, these golden needles from the Sterling clan were on a whole other level, way more precious, and packed with meaning.
“Thank you!” Hannah gently traced the golden needles with her fingertips, her eyes lit up with pure joy she just couldn’t hide.
Seeing her so happy, Barnaby placed his hand on her head and said, “Here’s your belated perfect score present. Congrats on getting direct admission.”
Hannah looked up at him, totally caught off guard. She’d thought Barnaby didn’t know about her admission at all, but he’d actually known the whole time, and had secretly gone to all this trouble just to get her such a special present.
‘So that’s why he didn’t reach out these past few days, he must’ve been out in the mountains the whole time,’ Hannah thought.
Suddenly, she realized how childish she’d been to keep her distance. ‘Does it even matter who he likes? With someone this thoughtful, why not just be real and stay friends?’ she thought.
“The way you’re looking at me right now… makes me want to do something reckless,” Barnaby teased, tilting her chin up with his hand.
Hannah was caught off guard, wondering what he was about to do, as Barnaby’s sharp, handsome face leaned in closer and closer.
“What are you two doing back here?”
Lucian piped up in his usual cute-but-bossy way, breaking the moment and stopping Barnaby from getting any closer.
Barnaby let go of Hannah and turned around, only to see Lucian standing there with his hands on his hips, giving him his

best tough-guy glare. Arthur was right behind him, eyeing Barnaby like he was some kind of predator,
Barnaby was speechless.
Hannah could only stare, lost for words.
“Hannah, we’ve checked in. Here’s your room key, Arthur said as he stepped forward, wedging himself between Hannah and Barnaby to keep them apart.
Barnaby was at a loss for words.
Lucian spotted the gift box in Hannah’s hand and said, “If you want a present, just ask me. Don’t go taking gifts from just anyone, what if they turn out to be someone shady?”
Hannah Barnaby was speechless.
‘Honestly, there’s no way you could ever get your hands on something like this, Hannah thought.
“Do I look like a scammer?” Barnaby asked with a grin.
‘Here comes another future brother-in-law. Better stay chill, Barnaby thought.
Lucian gave him a serious once-over and said, “Nope. You look more like a bandit!”
‘I only looked away for a second, and he already snatched Hannah up. If that’s not being a bandit, I don’t know what is, Lucian thought.
Barnaby could only stare, lost for words.
Arthur could feel the heavy vibe coming off Barnaby, so he called out to Hannah, “Hannah, it’s freezing out here. Let’s go chill in the room for a bit, then hit the hot springs.”
Hannah was totally baffled by the sudden tension between them, but she just nodded and followed Arthur.
The four of them headed to the villa together. Arthur had called in a favor to get VIP access, so they were staying in a family- style villa, three bedrooms, two living rooms, and a private outdoor hot spring pool out back.
Dorian and Felicity had already settled into one of the rooms. The original plan was for Arthur and Lucian to share another, while Hannah would be rooming with her grandma.
But in the rush to find everyone, Arthur hadn’t paid any attention to the room numbers the front desk gave them.
It wasn’t until they arrived that he suddenly realized grandma wasn’t coming, and with Barnaby here instead, it ended up being just him and Hannah sharing a room.
Hannah stood by the door, glanced at the room number on her keycard, then at Barnaby, and finally shot Arthur a look.
‘Seriously, only my own brother could mess things up like this,’ she thought.
Arthur could only stare, lost for words.
“How could you mess this up? Are you seriously this stingy? You couldn’t just book one more room?” Lucian kicked Arthur in the leg.
Barnaby smirked, “Guess we’ll just have to rough it together for one night.”
“No way!” Arthur and Lucian shouted in unison.
‘You don’t look the least bit bothered!’ Arthur thought.

Limited? How is it limited? Didn’t we reserve the whole place? Lucian thought.
Hannah was speechless.
After a round of swapping room keys, Hannah ended up sharing a room with Felicity. Dorian got paired with Lucian, and Arthur was stuck with Barnaby
Once everything was sorted, Arthur handed the room key to Barnaby with a smile and said,” Mr. Thole, looks like we’re
roommates.
But if you’re not cool with it, just head out, left or right, take your pick. Feel free to grab any other room out there?
Lucian nodded in approval; for once, he had to admit his brother did something right.
Dorian was still hoping to cozy up to Barnaby and get his company back on track, so of course he wanted Barnaby to stay. But Arthur’s move was basically testing Barnaby’s patience.
‘Seriously? The Barnaby Thole, sharing a room with some random dude? No way he’d ever lower himself to that! Dorian thought.
With all those empty rooms out there, why settle for this? Isn’t it way better to have a whole place to yourself?’ he grumbled to himself.
But to everyone’s surprise, Barnaby didn’t even flinch. He just coolly took the keycard between his sharp, defined fingers, swiped it with a beep, and strolled right into the room like he owned the place.
“Wait, what…?” Dorian said.
Lucian could only stare, lost for words.
Arthur just stared at her in silence.
‘Wow, I really misjudged how thick-skinned this guy is,’ Arthur thought, speechless.
Hannah watched Barnaby and Arthur head into the same room, and she couldn’t help but frown.
‘Didn’t he just say his body wasn’t for anyone to see, but he let me take pictures anyway?
‘And now he’s coming along to the hot springs, and he’s totally fine bunking with Arthur? What’s going on here?
Wait… could Barnaby actually be into my brother?’ Hannah was starting to get suspicious.
“Hannah, is something bothering you?” Felicity asked, noticing Hannah staring at the door to Barnaby and Arthur’s room, her concern growing.
‘Could it be that my daughter actually wants to share a room with Barnaby?’ Felicity thought, starting to get anxious.
Hannah snapped out of it. “It’s nothing.”
Once they got into the room, Hannah quickly tucked her golden needles away in her bag.
Felicity was digging out Hannah’s swimsuit from the suitcase when she spotted what Hannah was holding and did a double take.
Hannah was always the icy type, giving off that keep-your-distance vibe, like nothing ever really mattered to her.
But this was the first time Felicity had seen her actually cherish something, and it was clear Barnaby had given it to her.
Suddenly, Felicity asked in a small voice, “Hannah, are you and Mr. Thole… dating?”

Hannah froze. Wait, even Mom’s jumping to that conclusion now? What is going on with everyone today? she thought, a little exasperated.
“No!” Hannah replied quickly.
Her answer was so quick and firm that Felicity started to wonder, ‘Maybe I’ve been meddling too much lately… Is Hannah annoyed with me?’
Or is she actually upset because she got split up and didn’t get to room with Barnaby?
