Chapter 35
The next day, news spread around the school that Lily had been beaten up in the bathroom.
In Class 11, Lily’s archrival, Zoe Roberts, heard about it and immediately bought milkshakes for the entire class. “Finally. Someone taught Lily a lesson. Maybe now she won’t dare bully anyone again.”
“Zoe, you’re amazing. Lots of students will thank you.”
“Lily really went too far before. Zoe, you’re the best.”
“From now on, Zoe, you’re our boss.”
Everyone in the class chimed in, all assuming it was Zoe who had hit Lily.
Usually, when Lily bullied others, Zoe couldn’t stand it and often argued back.
Lily disliked Zoe but couldn’t do anything to her. Their fathers were both deputy mayors of Brynlock and rivals running for the next mayoral election.
“It wasn’t me. I left school too early yesterday and didn’t see her being dragged away by the ambulance. What a pity,” Zoe denied, then added with a smirk, “If I knew who beat Lily, I’d swear allegiance to them as boss.”
“Definitely. That’s a hero right there.”
“So satisfying, I’m in too.”
A few of Zoe’s friends cheered her on.
Zoe sat in front of Hannah and turned around.
Yvette hadn’t come that day. Seeing only Hannah behind her, Zoe changed her tone. “You don’t have to worry about Lily bullying you anymore.”
Zoe knew Lily disliked Hannah and even suspected Lily was looking for a chance to make a move on her.
Hannah thought, ‘Lily? As if she’s worthy!

Yvette hadn’t come to school for three days straight. The teachers said she was on sick leave.
Hannah knew Yvette was deliberately avoiding her after that incident; she didn’t answer calls or texts.
She couldn’t just sit and wait.
After school, Hannah planned to visit Yvette’s house.
But as soon as she stepped out of the school gate, several men blocked her path.
The leader was a burly guy with tattooed arms and a gold chain named Evan.
He was smoking and asked, “You’re Hannah, right?”
Hannah glanced at Evan and the few tattooed guys behind him, sharp-faced troublemakers who clearly didn’t have legit jobs.
“What do you want?” she asked coolly.
Her dismissive tone irritated Evan, who felt looked down on.
Other students, scared, were already walking around them, but Hannah still dared to act so indifferent in front of him.
‘Perfect. You’ve just triggered my urge to conquer,’ Evan thought.
“Someone hired us to come and ‘take care’ of you,” Evan said with a cocky grin.
Hannah’s thick lashes fluttered as she asked, “Who sent you?”
Evan thought she was scared. He took a deep drag and blew smoke at her.
“That’s none of your business. They wanted us to break your arms and legs, but seeing how pretty you are, I changed my mind.
“Behave and play nice with us, and we promise to keep all your limbs intact,” he finished, while the guys behind him snickered creepily.
It was dismissal time. A few shady thugs surrounding a pretty female student drew a lot of attention, but no one dared step forward to ask what was going on.
Hannah glanced at the school gate’s security cameras and said, “Let’s move somewhere else.”
Noticing Hannah’s obedience, Evan grinned.
He flicked his cigarette away and whistled. “Good girl. Come on, I’ll take you to a better place.”
Susie stepped out of the school gate just in time to see Hannah walking away with a group of punks.
A thrill ran through her as she quickly pulled out her phone and snapped two photos.
So Hannah really was out there hooking up with men.
Last time it was Lincoln, and now it was punks.
‘She really is just a bumpkin from the slums, willing to go after any guy, Susie thought bitterly. ‘No wonder Lily couldn’t teach her a lesson that day and ended up getting knocked down instead.
‘Turns out she had those punks helping her. If Dad found out, would he still keep her at the Scott residence?’
That thought curled the corners of Susie’s lips into a sinister smile as she turned and climbed into the waiting
BMW.
No sooner had the BMW pulled away than a black Bentley pulled up in front of the school gate.
Inside the car, Ronin parked and looked toward Cavalor’s gate, then asked Percival, who sat in the passenger seat, “The Nameless Healer is here?”
“I’m not sure if it’s the Nameless Healer, but it is a healer skilled in traditional medicine,” Percival corrected him.
That night, Ronin had gone to Ward 201. No matter what they said, Lily refused to reveal who had attacked
her.
Still, he had learned that after school today, the healer specializing in traditional medicine would come to Cavalor.
“You’re not sure?” Ronin glared at him and bit his teeth quietly. “Then why did you bring Barnaby along?”
As Ronin spoke, he glanced in the rearview mirror.
Barnaby sat in the back seat, radiating a cold, heavy energy with a stern face.
Barnaby had just returned from Thole Manor and was deep in a bad mood.
‘If this turns out to be a wild goose chase, I’m the one who takes the hit; no bonus for me this month,’ Ronin thought.
Percival felt the icy aura coming from the back seat.
He rubbed his arm nervously and whispered, “I thought Barnaby was in a bad mood and wanted to get him out for a bit.
“Even if we don’t find the Nameless Healer, seeing Hannah might cheer him up.”
“Barnaby that shallow?” Ronin barely finished when the rear door opened, and Barnaby got out.
Ronin was stunned. ‘It really work?’ he wondered.

Evan and his crew dragged Hannah into a shadowy alley.
The alley’s walls were mottled and peeling, the ground uneven with potholes and wild weeds growing, clearly a place no one usually passed through.
“All right, right here. Nobody’s gonna bother us,” Evan said with his usual cocky swagger, lighting another cigarette.
“Boss, you first, or should we go first?” a scrawny youth asked, rubbing his hands nervously.
The others grinned lecherously, blocking every escape route around Hannah.
“She’s so pretty. Wonder if she’s still a virgin.”
“Look at that soft skin. How about you go first? I’ll be the photographer.”
Hannah stood calmly, surveying her surroundings.
There were no cameras here.
Her eyes swept the punks circling her, all carrying knives at their waists. Trying to force her would be risky; she’d have to outsmart them.
She stepped back, her thick lashes half-lowered, and asked, “Can we take turns? The rest can stand guard outside.”
“Don’t worry. This is a good spot. Even if we party here three days straight, no one’s coming. Let’s all go at once; it’s been ages since we had a group,” Evan sneered, stepping closer with the others.
Hannah’s lashes fluttered slightly as her hands slid to the hem of her skirt, fingertips brushing against a needle.
‘Looks like I have no choice but to fight,’ she thought.
Just as Evan’s filthy hand reached for her, suddenly a stone flew out of nowhere, hitting the back of his hand with deadly precision.
Evan screamed in pain as if his bones had shattered; his vision blurred from the impact.
Whoever threw the stone had used tremendous force.
“Don’t touch her with your filthy hands,” a low, cold, and captivating voice echoed through the alley.
