Chapter 100 A Home Tailored Just for You

“Jensen, is this whole place really all mine?”

Zora couldn’t believe how spacious the house was.

“Of course. You deserve nothing but the best, Zora.”

Jensen nodded gently.

“If you need anything at all, just go to the person living upstairs. Leighton’s staying right above you.”

Jensen showed her around the apartment, then nodded toward the ceiling overhead.

Their floor was the eighteenth story, and Leighton lived on the nineteenth.

“Leighton?” Zora murmured softly.

Her mind instantly drifted to that effortlessly handsome, laid-back man.

“Yeah, he’s right upstairs. Don’t hesitate to knock if you need anything-I’ve already spoken to him.” Jensen nodded.

“He’s out of town on business these couple of days though, so you won’t run into him for now.”

“Okay.” Zora nodded quietly.

“I know you love growing medicinal herbs, so I didn’t have anyone plant flowers in the garden,” Jensen said, leading her out of the living room toward the garden.

“I had fresh herbs flown in and planted for you already, just like the ones you had back at the Marlow Manor. Every section’s got a wooden token labeling what’s growing there. If you see any empty spots later, I’ll have someone fill them in right away.”

Jensen had worked with a designer specifically to section off a dedicated herb garden just for

Zora.

All the soil was fully replaced and freshly turned, since the original garden soil wasn’t fit for growing medicinal plants.

Right next to the herb plot sat a cozy terrace, perfect for relaxing and taking in the view. At sunset, it overlooked the most breathtaking twilight skies.

“Thank you, Jensen.”

Zora listened to his casual explanation of the garden layout, yet she knew full well how much thought and effort he’d poured into this single herb garden.

Replacing all the soil alone was a huge undertaking, not to mention tending to delicate medicinal seedlings.

It must have cost a fortune, along with countless hours of work and manpower.

“No need to thank me.” A soft smile played on Jensen’s face as he ruffled her hair gently.

“Come on, let’s check out your bedroom. See if you like it.”

The two headed to her room next.

The decor was identical to her bedroom at the Marlow Manor, replicated down to the smallest of her little daily habits.

Jensen wanted Zora to know this was every bit her home too-she hadn’t lost her family by leaving the Marlow Manor.

“Thank you so much, Jensen.”

Zora suddenly reached out, grabbing the hem of his shirt. She tilted her head up, her clear, soft eyes shining with sincere gratitude.

She really meant it with all her heart.

Aside from her mentor, Zora hadn’t felt so carefully and wholeheartedly cared for in such a long time.

“I’ll always be here for you, whenever you need me.”

Jensen bent down to meet her gaze at eye level.

After touring the new apartment, the two headed back to the Marlow Manor so Zora could pack a few personal belongings.

Jensen had already bought her entirely new wardrobes, jewelry, designer bags, and shoes-most of her daily necessities were already replaced and upgraded.

They only needed to collect a few small, irreplaceable items from her old room.

“Zora, there’s a package here for you.”

When they got back to the Marlow Manor, Paul handed Zora a parcel.

“Thank you, Paul.” Zora took it with a quiet smile.

She assumed it was the medicinal herbs she’d asked Earl to ship over.

Zora carried the package back to her bedroom, sat cross-legged on the floor, and opened it.

Inside was a plain white porcelain bottle, along with a folded slip of paper.

The moment she saw the familiar handwriting, her eyes instantly welled up with tears. She clutched the note tightly, her fingertips brushing over the script she knew so well.

“Zora, have you been ignoring my words again? Have you been secretly crying? I haven’t abandoned you. I just have urgent matters to attend to right now, and can’t take you with me.”

At the very first line, Zora’s chest ached, tears pooling thick in her eyes.

“Zora, I slipped a bank card into your backpack before I left-it’s all the savings I set aside for you. Buy whatever you want with it. The medicine in the vial is for an elderly gentleman. Someone will reach out to you in a few days. You can trust them completely when you meet. If you ever run into trouble later, you can turn to that family too-I have their word they’ll look after you.”

“Don’t go looking for me, and don’t be sad. You’ve grown up now; you’re such an amazing, strong girl. I know you can take good care of yourself, and you won’t give me any reason to worry. When the time is right, I’ll come back for you.”

The handwriting was elegant, fluid, and refined—just looking at it, Zora could picture her mentor as the gentle, noble gentleman he surely was.

As she traced the note and its exhaustive list of instructions, Zora felt crystal-clear tears splash onto the paper.

She sniffled, her nose red and puffy, hugging the box tight and resting her head against it. Silent tears streamed down her face nonstop.

Naughty mentor.

It’s been over two months, and I finally heard from you at last.

Zora had no way to get in touch with her mentor. His old phone number was disconnected long ago. She had no idea where he’d gone, or even exactly when he’d left.

He’d burned calming herbal incense for her before leaving, lulling her into a deep sleep so she never even noticed his departure.
