The old sofa was plain and armless, while this new one came with sturdy armrests perfect for resting one’s head. The height suited Zora perfectly for giving massages, so she no longer had to kneel halfway on the floor.
The previous couch was too low. Sitting or bending over to massage felt awkward, and squatting tired her feet easily. Kneeling had been her only comfortable option back then.
Now with the proper height, she could simply sit on a small stool.
“Sit right here, Zora.”
Leighton pulled out an adorable, soft little stool printed with cute cartoon lamb patterns out of nowhere.
Zora couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Such a tall, imposing man holding a tiny child-sized stool looked utterly amusing.
“You’re treating me like a little kid? You even got one with cartoon prints…”
“Aren’t you a kid, Zora? No one else can ease my troubles and calm my nerves except you. I hate putting you to any trouble at all. Since I can’t do anything to help ease your workload, I have to make sure you never feel uncomfortable around me.”
Leighton had never taken his long-term insomnia seriously. He never even worried that the constant lack of sleep might lead to sudden collapse. Deep down, he had long stopped caring whether he lived or died.
He should have passed away more than a decade ago. Though fate had spared his life back then, the most precious people in his world were gone forever, never to return.
Last time he had been caught off guard by her offer to massage him, with nothing prepared at home, leaving Zora kneeling uncomfortably on the floor.
Even if he wasn’t sure if she would help him again, he still secretly replaced the old sofa and had this custom low soft stool made just to fit her height.
It was more like a mini cozy armchair, fluffy and gentle to the touch.
“Lie down and get comfortable.”
Zora took the stool and sat down properly.
Leighton adjusted his position and lay back on the sofa, resting his head gently on the armrest. His gaze fell straight on Zora’s face.
They sat extremely close to each other. With his sharp eyesight, he could even see the fine, soft

baby hairs across her cheeks, along with her thick, curly, lowered lashes.
Her eyes were undeniably charming, easy enough to make anyone lose themselves staring into them.
“Do you want me to chat to distract you this time?” Zora looked down at him softly.
Leighton froze for a second, confused by her question.
“Are you still feeling nervous?”
Zora had clearly noticed his obvious tension and unease during their last session.
“All that talking you did before was because I was nervous?” Leighton was quick-witted and instantly caught on to her meaning.
“Mm-hmm,” Zora replied simply.
A strange, warm feeling surged quietly inside his chest. He wondered if the nourishing soup was already starting to take effect, making his heart feel faintly heated.
Zora gazed quietly at his peacefully closed eyes. His handsome features were breathtaking up close, his long lashes resting lightly above his lower lids, and his soft hair falling neatly across his forehead.
Staring at his flawless face, she made sure he was still sound asleep before slowly lifting her hand. Her soft fingertips gently brushed against his smooth cheek.
Unable to hold back, she gave his cheek a light, playful poke, marveling at how soft and bouncy his skin felt.
“Truly beautiful,” she whispered softly to herself.
He looked stunning and felt even nicer to touch.
She soon spotted a tiny, faint beauty mark on the bridge of his nose. Glancing once more to confirm he hadn’t woken up, she carefully traced the little mark with her finger, admiring his straight, elegant nose bridge.
The mole was barely noticeable from afar, yet stood out clearly when she leaned in close.
Zora stared at his beautiful face for a long time. He really, really was gorgeous. She wondered what it would be like to take a bite.
“I wonder if it tastes half as lovely as it looks,” she mumbled quietly.
Zora slowly hung her head, her gaze fixed firmly on his face as she couldn’t help but swallow softly.

Warm breath fanned gently across his skin, making Leighton furrow his brows slightly in his half-asleep state.
She drew closer and closer, inching toward his flawless features. Just as her lips were about to brush his smooth cheek, a soft, muffled hum escaped him.
Zora snapped right back to her senses in an instant. She sat straight up abruptly and noticed his lashes twitch slightly, showing clear signs he was about to wake up.
Panic rushed over her instantly. She scrambled to her feet, nearly losing her balance in her rush. Hastily she grabbed a warm blanket and tossed it over him, accidentally covering his entire face in her fluster.
Without stopping to fix it properly, she hurried out of the living room and rushed out the front door quickly.
She failed to notice him slowly push the blanket aside. Half awake, he watched her flustered escape with clear amusement. His Adam’s apple rolled gently, and a helpless, faint smile tugged at his lips before heavy drowsiness pulled him back into deep, peaceful sleep.
Leighton was indeed exhausted. Zora’s soothing methods worked wonderfully. Though his mind drifted off easily into slumber, he could still faintly hear any sounds or quiet words spoken nearby.
