Chapter 182 Who Stands Behind the Hacker Attacks

Every student in this class came from wealthy and influential families. They always caught wind of every shift happening within the upper social circles.

The Knox family had only risen to prominence for around two decades. There were countless prestigious clans scattered all across Seacrest. No ordinary household could get into Class 19, and none of these teens held the Knoxes in high regard without the Marlows standing behind them.

Zora listened closely to their conversations, recalling Jensen’s gentle words that morning-he swore he would never let her suffer unfair treatment in vain.

Warm emotions welled up quietly inside her heart.

“What kind of powerful figure did the Knoxes piss off lately? So many troubles broke out all at once. The Marlows and Knoxes are related by marriage, yet the Marlows pulled all their investments. Something huge must have happened between them.”

Easton walked into the classroom, clearly already well informed about the recent chaos.

He turned toward Hallie, who had just stepped inside. “Hallie, do you know what really went on? Your family lives close to the Marlows. Have you heard any inside gossip?”

“Nothing complicated. The Knoxes simply acted terribly; they totally deserve everything coming their way.”

Hallie had gotten home extremely late the previous night. She spent ages freshening up and finishing school assignments, barely finishing everything close to midnight. She yawned lazily.

She still found the Knox family’s behavior utterly absurd.

In all her years of life, she had never seen blood relatives treat their own daughter so ruthlessly.

Such shameful family matters were kept hidden from the public, known only among a small circle of close relatives.

Her grandfather had told her all about it early that morning, and all the Marlow family members fully backed Jensen’s decisions.

The Knoxes had gone far too far, completely losing their sense of right and wrong.

No one could bear to imagine how helpless Zora would have been without the Marlows’ protection and support.

Zora paid little mind to the ongoing downfall of the Knox family. She had already cut all ties with them long ago, so their rise or fall meant nothing to her anymore.

She was never the type to hold excessive kindness. Now that those who had bullied her were facing consequences, she felt neither joyful nor upset.

She still remembered how awkward and humiliating she would have been if she had not been able to come up with enough cash the other day, enduring endless harsh insults and humiliation.

Wendy had pushed her relentlessly just to force her into submission, hoping to see her live a restless, miserable life filled with constant mental stress. Yet Zora was born stubborn; the harder others pushed her, the firmer she stood her ground.

Her mentor had once told her never to let herself get wronged. It was always better to let others suffer slight troubles than to wrong oneself.

“By the way, who do you think was behind that hacker attack?” Easton asked, turning toward Felix.

He knew better than to dig too deeply into certain private family conflicts, but the sudden cyber incident still puzzled him greatly.

“No idea,” Felix said flatly, his gaze lingering on the person behind him who was reading a book.

“Who knows? Probably just too many people who can’t stand the Knox family,” Hallie said casually while munching on a bread.

Talking about the Knoxes’ mess always gave her a headache.

She was just relieved that Zora had finally broken free from that messy family mess.

“Have you had breakfast yet, Zora? I brought extra food with me. You must have had a tough time living alone with your cousin. Why not come stay at my place instead? You look like you’ve lost weight lately.”

Hallie’s eyes softened with tender affection as she looked at Zora. They had only spent one night apart, yet she kept worrying Zora was not being taken good care of.

“I already ate plenty, honestly. I haven’t lost any weight at all, I’ve even put on a little extra flesh.”

Zora let Hallie gently pinch and pat her cheeks without resistance.

Maya sat quietly in her seat, listening calmly to their casual chat. She remained composed and slowly turned the page of her book.

“Class is starting soon. Have you finished all your homework?”

She spoke up once Zora and Hallie finished their conversation.

Zora quickly pulled out her unfinished assignments and dragged her chair closer toward Maya’s desk.

A sweet, milky scent drifted through the air. Maya lowered her head, looking at the girl leaning close beside her, watching her fluffy hair and delicate face, then curved her lips into a faint smile.

School ended in the afternoon.

“I’ll drive you home first before heading back to my own house,” Hallie offered.

She felt uneasy letting Zora walk home alone, hoping her presence could scare off any further trouble from the Knox family.

“It’s fine, it’s only a ten-minute walk. Nothing bad will happen to me,” Zora replied as they walked out of the school building together.

“Zora, let me walk you home safely.”

Right after they stepped out of the classroom, Reed came down from the upper floor.

After everything that had happened with the Knox family, his grandparents had repeatedly told Reed to personally escort Zora home without fail in the afternoon.
