The two headed straight for the downtown shopping mall, a place Zora had visited with Jensen before.

Hallie knew every corner of this mall like the back of her hand. Instead of rushing to shop for outfits right away, they wandered around and had fun first.

The first thing they grabbed was drinks.

“Zora, the drinks here are amazing, and their pastries are delicious too. Pick whatever catches your eye!”

Hallie linked arms with Zora and led her inside, then found a cozy booth to sit down in. A server promptly placed two digital ordering tablets in front of them.

The menu was packed with countless drink options, making it hard to choose.

Hallie quickly ordered her usual signature drink and picked out several cream-free desserts.

Staring at the appealing pictures on the screen, Zora settled on a drink with a lovely name and refreshing appearance.

The desserts arrived first.

“These have no cream in them, so you can safely have some,” Hallie said softly.

“Okay.”

Zora picked up a small spoon and took a gentle bite of the sweet treat offered to her.

Shortly after, their drinks were served.

“Here are your beverages.”

Hallie popped open her straw and took a slow sip, letting out a satisfied sigh and half-closing her eyes in comfort.

Just as Zora was about to try her own drink, Hallie suddenly sat up straight. “Hold on a second, Zora.”

Zora pulled the straw away from her lips, looking utterly confused.

“Excuse me,” Hallie called out to the server who was about to walk away.

The server turned back around.

“This drink isn’t the one my friend ordered. I’m certain she picked a completely different

“Maya…”

Before the server could reply, Zora’s eyes widened with delight the moment she recognized those familiar, gentle eyes.

“Maya?”

Hallie blinked in surprise, studying the young server closely, and soon realized why her face felt so familiar.

“I knew she can’t have anything with cream, so I swapped her original order for this safer one,” Maya said with a soft smile, tugging her mask down slightly to reveal half her face.

Her gaze softened even more when it landed on Zora.

“Maya, why are you working here?” Hallie asked, clearly taken aback.

“I’m just picking up a part-time shift here,” Maya answered calmly without the slightest hint of embarrassment, her expression calm and easygoing.

“Come sit and eat with us,” Zora offered warmly, gesturing toward the desserts on the table with no trace of disdain at all.

“Exactly! If you’re free, join us. We’re planning to keep shopping all afternoon anyway,” Hallie added in invitation.

Everyone in their class knew about Maya’s family situation, yet no one ever looked down on her for it.

“Yeah, please stay and hang out with me,” Zora urged cheerfully.

“I really appreciate the offer, but I still have work to finish. You two enjoy yourselves. We can do this another time,” Maya declined gently with a warm smile.

“Alright then,” Zora mumbled quietly, visibly disappointed at her friend’s refusal,

Noticing her dejected look, Maya reached out and lightly patted the top of her head, making a soft promise. “I’ll definitely go shopping with you next time.”

“Okay.”

After finishing their drinks, Hallie took Zora to the arcade to spend the rest of the afternoon. She was so familiar with the mall that she showed her friend all sorts of fun games, from claw machines to archery shooting games.

Once they had their fill of entertainment, the pair finally got around to shopping for clothes.

Hallie had her favorite high-end clothing brand store in mind, and she took Zora’s hand to head for the thirteenth floor via elevator.

“Welcome back, Miss Sloan! All our brand-new seasonal pieces arrived just yesterday,” a shop assistant greeted them warmly with a friendly smile the second they walked in.

“Great. Help me pick out suitable outfits for my sister here,” Hallie said, pulling Zora into the store and sitting down on the soft lounge sofa prepared in advance.

“Of course! I never guessed this lovely young lady is your sister. She’s just as stunning as you are, like a graceful fairy maiden,” the shop assistant praised sincerely.

A faint blush crept across Zora’s cheeks.

“Do you have any preferred clothing styles or favorite colors, miss?” the assistant asked politely, inwardly screaming in excitement at how gorgeous Zora looked, just like a delicate living doll.

“Anything works for me,” Zora replied casually, never being picky about what she wore.

“I’ll have our fitting models try on various styles first, and you can pick whichever ones you love, alright?”

“Mm-hmm,” Zora agreed without any objection.

“Please make yourselves comfortable and help yourselves to refreshments and pastries while I arrange everything.”

The coffee table beside their sofa was fully stocked with assorted snacks, fresh fruits, and all kinds of beverages. The assistant then stepped away to arrange staff members with matching body types to try on the clothes.

The boutique featured a dedicated display runway. Customers never needed to try on clothes personally; trained staff would model all the garments, and guests could directly purchase any styles they liked on the spot.
