The Real Heiress's New Family Adored By All novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20 A Healing Touch

Zora rubbed her temples, still sleepy.

She hadn’t slept well at the Knox Villa, but at the Marlow Manor, she’d had two good, deep naps.

When she went downstairs, Opal was out. Only Floyd was on the sofa watching financial news.

“You’re awake, sweetie. Your grandma went shopping with her friends, and Jensen’s at the office. Just us two today,” Floyd smiled at her.

“Okay,” Zora said softly.

Floyd’s head felt heavy, like he’d been watching TV too long.

“Grandpa, are you okay?” Zora asked, concerned.

“Just old age. Little aches and pains. My eyes feel tired from the screen.” He picked up his reading glasses.

“Grandpa, I know some massage. Can I help?”

“Sure, honey,” he agreed warmly.

The family knew Zora had lived with a healer in Maplewood.

He didn’t expect much, but he didn’t want to disappoint her.

His headaches were mild and passed quickly.

Zora stood behind him. Floyd set his glasses down.

“I’ll start, Grandpa,” Zora said in a low voice.

“Go ahead, Zora.” He leaned back.

Zora placed her hands on his head, pressing gently with her fingertips.

“Is this pressure okay?” Zora asked as she applied moderate strength.

“It’s perfect. Better than the professional masseuse Paul hired! My eyes feel clearer already.”

Whether it was placebo or not, his head felt lighter.

“I can do this often if you like.”

“Nonsense. Your hands are for pretty jewelry, not rough work. You’re our little princess now.” Floyd laughed.

“Grandpa, I’ll teach this technique to the person Paul fuids to massage you. That way, someone can take care of you even when I’m not around.”

Zora was already thinking about leaving. His issues were mild-just regular massage needed, no medicine yet.

“Great idea. Paul, call Chet. That old doctor’s been practicing for decades and can’t hold a candle to my granddaughter.”

Floyd’s head did feel much clearer, so he didn’t refuse. He called out loudly for the butler who had served him for decades.

“Right away, Mr. Marlow-I’ll send for Dr. Morgan at once,” said Paul.

He stood behind them, watching the warm scene between the grandfather and granddaughter, a broad smile spreading across his face.

Ever since Zora arrived, the manor had been much livelier.

Opal and Floyd smiled far more often than before.

Jensen and Kian also came home much more frequently.

Now, Zora even had Floyd in such high spirits. Truly, she was a lucky star for their family.

Soon, a loud, warm voice came from the doorway.

“Floyd! Where’s your amazing granddaughter? Let me learn!”

Zora looked up. It was a kind-looking older man with a neat white beard trimmed into a point.

“Chet, sit. Paul, brew that good coffee I got.”

Floyd glanced at his friend, gestured toward the nearby sofa, and gave a quick order to Paul.

“Right away,” Paul replied and hurried off to do his bidding.

“Well, now,” boomed Chet, stepping briskly into the living room. His eyes immediately landed on Zora, who was massaging Floyd from behind the sofa, and he broke into a warm smile. “This must be the granddaughter you’ve been telling me about.”

“Zora, this is Chet Morgan,” Floyd introduced. “Just call him Mr. Morgan.”

“Mr. Morgan,” Zora said politely.

She was always well-behaved and obedient in front of her elders.

“Well, hello there, sweet girl,” Chet responded instinctively at her soft, sweet voice.

He looked at the pretty, gentle young girl standing behind his old friend, and a warm fondness welled up m his chest.

“You didn’t have to bring anything,” Floyd chided lightly, noticing the box his friend was still holding.

“These are fresh lobsters my grandson sent over,” Chet explained. “They’re still alive, so I thought I’d bring

some over.”

The Marlow and Morgan residences weren’t far apart, just a ten-minute walk or so.

He handed the package to a maid before taking a seat on the sofa.
