Chapter 201 Two-Sided Side of Leighton

His eyes were bloodshot, most likely from too much alcohol. His slender neck was flushed pink. She had known him for ages, but never seen him look so downcast and worn out.

He looked utterly sorrowful.

The dignified, aloof man who left home in the morning had fallen into such a state by nightfall.

The strong reek of alcohol on him was overwhelming.

“He’ll be fine, don’t bother with Leighton. He’s gotten used to drinking like this. A good sleep will fix him up by tomorrow,” Jensen said as he sipped water.

“I’m okay, Jensen. Rest up. I’ll give Leighton some water to ease his stomach pain.”

Zora lifted Leighton’s head gently with the water in hand. His whole body was burning hot, clearly dead drunk. She held the cup to his lips softly. “Leighton, drink some water, okay?”

Her voice was soft and tender.

“Zora, he’s too far gone to listen; he won’t drink a thing.”

Jensen was not unwilling to help, but Leighton turned extremely guarded when drunk. He refused all food and drink and would lash out fiercely if anyone forced him.

Half a cup of water eased his fiery stomach greatly. Jensen glanced over at Zora and froze instantly.

“Little Zora…”

Leighton rested his head on Zora’s shoulder. Drawn by her sweet, soft voice, he forced his eyes open and saw those pure, clear eyes he knew well, knowing she meant no harm.

All the tension in his body melted away, and he leaned weakly against her. His voice was slurred and hushed right by her ear, making Zora’s ears burn hot.

Even drunk, he was breathtakingly handsome. His eyes were red and watery, long lashes falling over his eyelids, his nose flushed pink, and the tiny red mole on his nose bridge looked even more vivid.

They were so close Zora could feel his warm breath fanning her face.

“Drink some water, Leighton.” Zora held the cup steadily.

“Mm…” He was thoroughly intoxicated. His warm lips touched the cool cup, and he stared at Zora for confirmation before drinking obediently.

Jensen frowned, watching Leighton lean closely against Zora, the sight stinging his eyes. He wanted to pull him away at once.

“Let me feed him, Zora.”

Jensen had never seen Leighton be this compliant. Though glad his friend would drink water, he did not want Zora to be worn out.

He’d take over.

“It’s alright, Jensen, you rest more.” Zora saw his tired look.

“Little Zora… I’m still thirsty…” After taking a sip, Leighton grew even thirstier. He tugged her sleeve and mumbled softly.

Zora focused on feeding him water without more words.

“You’re so nice, Zora,” Leighton smiled lazily.

Jensen could not bear to watch any longer. He never knew Leighton could act so clingy and spoiled.

Soon, the smile faded from Leighton’s face.

A kitchen timer rang out, meaning the soup was done.

“I’ll take over.” Jensen hurried over eagerly.

“Thanks a lot, Jensen.”

This time, Zora didn’t hesitate. She handed him the cup, laid Leighton’s head on the sofa armrest, and headed for the kitchen.

“Leighton! Drink.”

Jensen had no patience like Zora. He pulled Leighton up firmly and held the cup to his mouth.

Leighton pressed his lips tight and turned his head away stubbornly.

“Drink it,” Jensen insisted.

Leighton showed no willingness to open his mouth. He opened his cold eyes, looking sharp and intimidating, yet recognized the familiar face before him, then closed his eyes lazily.

“Stay away from me.” His hoarse voice carried obvious coldness.

He ignored Jensen completely.

He even shrugged off Jensen’s hands and slumped back onto the sofa.

Jensen let out an exasperated laugh.

They had been friends for years. Only in recent years had Leighton stopped picking fights with him.

Back in the day, every drinking session like this would end with him getting beaten up.

Raised and trained strictly in the military by Garrett since childhood, Leighton was far stronger than ordinary people. Even drunk, he kept high vigilance and lashed out at anyone who drew

near.

Jensen was one of the few exceptions after years of company, yet he was still unwelcome when Leighton was drunk.

He had never seen this two-sided side of Leighton-cold and distant toward him, yet gentle and docile like a tamed lion in front of Zora.
