Chapter 209 Faint From the Aches
As a senior personal assistant, Tristan already had plenty of work on his plate.

What’s more, his boss had strictly told him not to linger idly inside the office before leaving. Everyone knew how petty Leighton could be.
Soon enough, only Zora was left alone in the spacious office.
Zora was suffering from mild lower abdominal discomfort. She curled up on the sofa and wrapped a soft blanket around herself.
The ache had been faint in the early morning, yet it grew worse in the afternoon, most likely because she had caught a chill the night before.
She set aside her potato chips and reached for the insulated water cup on the table. Inside was spiced hot cocoa Leighton had prepared for her at noon.
The drink was still hot. She took two big sips, and the warmth slid down her throat, instantly easing the soreness in her belly a lot.
She picked up her tablet and played a hit drama series.
She felt so relieved that she had almost finished all her school assignments the night before. If she still had piles of homework to catch up on right now in this state, she would have felt utterly worn out.
Drowsy drama lines drifted into her ears. The persistent stomachache made it hard for Zora to keep her eyes open. She unconsciously rested one hand on her abdomen and drifted off to sleep before she knew it.
“How is she doing, Doctor?”
Zora regained consciousness amid a voice filled with deep worry.
“This girl sustained severe physical damage right after she was born, leading to serious internal vitality deficiency. Fortunately, she met a skilled healer back then; otherwise, she would have barely survived this far. She has grown up so healthy now, you must have poured a great deal of effort and used countless rare nourishing remedies on her, haven’t you?”
The doctor gently pulled out the fine therapeutic needles from Zora’s body, then glanced at Leighton, who stood by the bedside looking extremely anxious, and spoke in a teasing tone.
This doctor was a regular private doctor hired by Pierce Group. He was the one who sent Leighton to the hospital when Leighton fell into a coma overseas years ago. Later on, Leighton invited him to settle down in Seacrest after returning home, so the two had always been on

close terms.
Leighton said nothing; his gentle eyes were full of undisguised anxiety.
Severe injuries right after birth?
A flash of cold anger flickered across Leighton’s calm gaze.

Newborn infants were the most fragile in the world. How could anyone bear to hurt such a tiny baby?
No matter who the culprit was, Leighton would never let it slide. Anyone who dared harm Zora was bound to pay a painful price.
Sharp icy coldness settled deep in his eyes.
The doctor couldn’t help feeling a chill run down his spine. He secretly glanced at the furious man and silently prayed for whoever had hurt Zora in the past.
Once Leighton truly flew into a rage, death would almost be a mercy.
If that person was still alive, they would be doomed to live in endless torment.
Worse still, even the deceased might not be able to rest in peace, for Leighton was capable of doing anything to get revenge.
“She has an innate cold body constitution, which causes extremely severe menstrual cramps. She must have fallen into cold water at some point and left hidden health troubles behind. Plus, she caught a cold recently, so all her symptoms flared up badly. Her overall physical condition is actually pretty good; she just suffers terribly during her special period.”
Seeing how distraught Leighton was, the doctor dropped casual remarks and truthfully explained Zora’s physical condition.
“What’s the best way to nurse her back to full health?” Leighton asked in a low voice.
Falling into cold water…
It reminded him of the birthday incident when Zora was pushed into the outdoor pool.
Catching a chill…
It instantly made him think of the night before.
“She has already received proper conditioning all these years, which has greatly improved her health. But menstrual cramps can never be cured overnight, it requires long-term persistent care. I’ve told you before, it was already a miracle that she managed to survive her infancy.

“You need to take extra good care of her diet. Don’t let her eat too much meat all the time; keep a balanced mix of meat and vegetables. Never indulge her cravings blindly. Excessive meat intake will mess up the stable, healthy physical balance she has worked so hard to maintain.”
After finishing the physical check-up, the doctor couldn’t help sighing with emotion.
Zora was truly blessed with great fortune and met kind benefactors who pulled her back from the verge of death.
He had just felt her pulse, utterly amazed by the superb medical skills that saved her life back then.
Zora vaguely caught the words about limiting meat intake, and a sliver of clarity returned to her fuzzy mind. She slowly opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was a pair of straight, long legs.
She called out weakly in a hoarse voice, “Leighton…”
“I’m here, Zora.”
The room stayed dead quiet. Upon hearing her voice, Leighton immediately knelt down beside the bed to talk to her.
The doctor tactfully stepped out of the room to leave them some private space.
“What happened to me?” Zora tried to sense her own body, noticing the sharp abdominal pain had faded greatly.
“You fainted from the ache just now, so I sent for a private doctor to check on you.”
Leighton felt incredibly grateful that he had brought Zora to the company with him. If she had passed out alone at home, she would have been totally helpless.
Zora’s old physical wounds had always troubled her badly. She used to suffer from unbearable menstrual cramps that left her tossing and turning in agony in bed.
Later, her mentor tried all kinds of ways to ease the pain, yet it could only be relieved instead of completely cured, and long-term gentle conditioning remained the only solution.
As the saying went, even skilled healers could not heal their own ailments. Zora had never found an effective way to ease her own recurring cramps either.
