Zora had been curled up watching a drama, but without realizing it, the pain knocked her out.

It was Tristan who first noticed something wrong when he came in to deliver her hot cocoa. He quickly contacted the doctor and reported the situation straight to Leighton.

Before heading into the meeting, Leighton had specifically told Tristan to keep a close eye on Zora and inform him right away if anything happened.

The moment he learned Zora had passed out, Leighton immediately adjourned the ongoing meeting and rushed back to stay by her side.

He waited there for a full hour.

The doctor had given Zora intravenous medication to ease her discomfort, and she only jolted awake just now when the needle was pulled out, catching the mention of cutting back on meat.

“Does anything still hurt, Zora?” Leighton asked softly.

They were now inside the private lounge attached to his office. Zora looked extremely pale; her lips, which usually held a healthy rosy shade, had turned completely colorless. Strands of damp hair stuck gently to her cheeks, and her round, drowsy eyes glistened faintly, making her look utterly helpless and pitiful.

“I’m fine now.”

Zora finally came to her senses and realized she had blacked out from the unbearable ache.

The painkillers flowing through her body had already relieved most of the discomfort.

“Boss, everyone is still waiting for you in the meeting room,” Tristan knocked on the door and spoke from outside.

This was an extremely important corporate meeting. The company had been developing intelligent humanoid robots for three whole years, and the project was now entering its critical final phase. Numerous key decisions needed his approval, which was exactly why Leighton had come to the office that day.

“You should go get back to work. I’m totally fine now. I just want to sleep for a while,” Zora spoke first before Leighton could say anything. Her voice sounded weak and soft after falling ill.

“Rest well then. I will bring you home right after the meeting ends. Call for help anytime you need anything, alright?” Leighton stroked her hair gently to soothe her.

Tristan was truly shocked to see how far Leighton was willing to go for Zora.

The second he heard Zora had fainted, he had hurried back in a panic. It was obvious to see his rare flustered emotions, which he almost never showed to anyone.

When Leighton returned, the doctor was just about to give Zora acupuncture treatment on the sofa. He stopped the doctor at once, then gently lifted Zora up and carried her into the quiet lounge himself.

After Leighton left, Tristan headed straight for the secretarial department to find a reliable female employee to take care of Zora.

A sudden wave of abdominal pain jolted Zora half awake in her drowsy state. She slowly turned her blurred vision toward the outer area of the office.

Her unfocused eyes gradually cleared up and locked onto a moving figure outside.

The sharp ache was momentarily forgotten as she scanned the silent, empty room, realizing Leighton was nowhere nearby anymore.
