Chapter 215 Tessa Returns
Zora’s face instantly fell.
:
She had no choice but to give in, knowing how much Hallie feared Leighton.
It felt just like the old days when her mentor kept strict rules over her every move.

Hallie went on to explain Zora’s dietary restrictions to Maya, telling her all about the ban on sugar, meat, and various other foods she had to stay away from.
Maya memorized every single word carefully.
“I’ll make you low-sugar desserts tomorrow, okay? Let’s skip sweets for today.”
Maya softened her tone, trying to cheer the glum girl up gently.
Zora was still in low spirits. She had been upset ever since she heard the strict rules the night before, and could not pull herself together easily.
There were only a few simple joys in her life: sleeping well, learning medical knowledge, and eating delicious food.
Yet lately, she could neither rest properly nor enjoy her favorite meals, making everything feel gloomy and dull.
“What’s wrong with our sweet girl? Why the long face?”
Easton walked into the classroom munching on a sandwich and soon noticed Hallie and the others gathered around Zora.
Zora’s brows were tightly furrowed. The savory aroma drifting through the air made her stare straight at the food in Easton’s hands, eyes full of longing.
“Want this sandwich, Zora? I’ve got a couple extra untouched ones here.”
Easton clearly saw how eager she was and generously held the food out towards her.
“Easton! Take that food and eat it outside right now!” Hallie snapped at him sharply.
Easton froze on the spot, his foot hovering mid-air as he hesitated to step fully inside.
“What did I do?” He pressed his face against the classroom window, staring at everyone inside in total confusion.
“Don’t eat that in class, and definitely not right in front of us.” Hallie rolled her eyes at him helplessly.

“Fine then. But doesn’t Zora want some? Give her this sandwich, and I’ll go eat somewhere else. I walked all the way to buy these. They taste amazing. I’m sure she’ll love them.”
Though confused, Easton obeyed readily. Thinking about how Zora had been staring at him, he reached his hand through the window to give the sandwich to Hallie.
“…Just get out of here.”
Hallie comforted Zora softly, “Zora, I’ll buy you all kinds of nice food later on. Focus on getting your health better first, and we can go have fancy feasts together once you’re fully recovered.”
Easton quickly finished the sandwich outside before heading back into the classroom.
“Alright.”
Zora had calmed herself down by then, twisting open a bottle of strawberry-flavored milk and taking slow sips.
She had lived under strict restrictions for more than a decade already. It was just one more year to hold on, and then she could eat whatever she wanted freely.
Time would fly by in the blink of an eye.
She kept telling herself firmly as she took another big gulp of milk.
“Tessa’s here.”
Someone spoke up quietly in the classroom.
Zora bit her straw and looked toward the door.
The first person she saw was Clark, and there was a girl next to him.
It was Tessa, who had been discharged from the hospital.
As if sensing her gaze, Tessa looked over, and their eyes locked instantly.
Tessa even offered her a gentle smile.
Zora frowned in confusion, unable to figure out why she was smiling at her.
She looked away silently and continued drinking her milk slowly.
“Everyone, quiet down please!”
Clark led Tessa into the classroom, and soft whispers broke out among all the students.

No one could understand why Tessa chose to transfer into Class 19 instead of staying in her original Class 2.
What was more, the two classes had gotten into a fierce conflict not long before, so most students here did not hold a good impression of her.
“Everyone, welcome our new classmate, Tessa Frost.”
Clark himself was quite puzzled about this sudden transfer, especially given the past bad blood between her and the students in this class.
“Hello everyone, I’m Tessa Frost. It’s nice to meet all of you.”
Going through all those recent incidents had made Tessa far more mature and composed. She spoke in a mild, concise tone, sweeping her gaze across the whole class before lingering longer on Zora.
Sparse scattered applause echoed around the room.
Tessa could tell she was not warmly welcomed, yet she did not care much about it at all.
“The only empty seat left is in the middle of the last row. You may take that spot first, and we will rearrange seats after the monthly exam. Does that work for you?”
The monthly exams were starting this afternoon, and the Thanksgiving break was the day after
tomorrow.
“That’s perfectly fine.”

Tessa nodded without any complaint, slinging her schoolbag over her shoulder and walking toward the back of the classroom.
When she passed Zora’s desk, her eyes rested on the girl for several seconds.
Still bearing past grievances between them, Zora lowered her head and focused on reading her comic book, refusing to meet her eyes.
Tessa pressed her lips tightly together. She knew it would never be easy for the two of them to become close friends. She had to take things slow and plan carefully.
One wrong move had led to endless troubles, and she finally realized her judgment of others had truly been as poor as her brother had said.
After one full class ended, Zora headed toward the restroom.
Right after she stepped out of the classroom, someone quietly followed closely behind her.
