Leighton had been keeping a close eye on Zora’s sugar intake lately, so even with these fancy pastries in hand, she could not eat much of them.

A couple of days earlier, Hallie had casually mentioned craving desserts from Lumina Café. Those treats were incredibly hard to reserve and extremely pricey. A small plate of five pastries cost ten thousand dollars, and they were sold in limited quantities daily. That was why Zora had agreed to take them.

“Zora, I love you so much!” Hallie cheered in excitement.

“Want to eat some now? I’ll feed you.”

Hallie was sitting still with her head fixed in place while getting her hair done. Zora opened one pastry box. Inside were only five delicate lotus-shaped pastries no bigger than walnuts, crafted so vividly they looked almost real.

Zora picked one up and held it to Hallie’s mouth.

“Desserts from Lumina Café really taste incredible. You try one too, it’s not overly sweet at all,” Hallie sighed in delight.

It was true that quality always matched the price. Every bite of their handmade treats was simply perfect.

Hearing it was low in sugar, Zora took one to taste as well. Her eyes lit up instantly; the flavor was truly wonderful.

Still, she stopped after just one bite.

Though she sometimes felt frustrated about having so many food restrictions, Zora knew Leighton only did this for her health, so she always obeyed willingly. She never wanted everyone around her to keep worrying over her constantly.

Hallie’s hairstyling was nearly finished, and dusk was falling fast. The two girls decided to head out for dinner.

Since Zora had so many dietary limits, most regular restaurants were not suitable for them. They chose to dine at the upscale restaurant upstairs, owned by Jett instead.

The moment they stepped inside, deafening loud music blared out, hurting their eardrums.

Evan was throwing a private party here and had booked the entire main hall.

The hall was packed with noisy guests dancing wildly and messing around casually.

Zora frowned slightly, feeling uneasy.

“Should we head home for dinner instead?” Hallie noticed her discomfort.

It was tough finding a decent place that fit all of Zora’s eating rules. Dining at Jett’s place was much better, as he could arrange a personal chef to prepare proper meals for them.

No one expected to run straight into Evan’s party here.

“No, it’s fine. We’ll eat in a private room. Once the door’s closed, it’ll be quiet,” Zora said gently.

She could clearly hear Hallie’s stomach growling softly. It would take them more than half an hour to drive back home, and rush hour traffic would only make it later, leaving them eating dinner far too late.

“Okay, then let’s get a private room.”

Hallie walked with Zora toward the front desk to reserve a quiet private room.

“Is that the daughter of the Sloan family?”

“I never thought Evan had such great connections; he even got the Sloans to show up.”

“Who is the girl beside her?”

“I heard she’s the newly found daughter of the Knox family, though she’s not favored by them at all.”

“So what if the Knox family ignores her? The Marlow family dotes on her greatly, and the Marlows hold far higher social status than the Knoxes.”

“Evan, you’re truly impressive! Even Hallie and Miss Knox are here for your party.”

“Whoever claims the Hale family is declining must be wrong.”

“Absolutely, we would never get into such a fancy spot without Evan’s invitation.”

The Sloan family’s main influence lay far outside Seacrest, yet Hallie had grown up in this city all her life. The Morgan family was an old scholarly family with deep roots.

As the only daughter of the Sloan family, Hallie was deeply cherished, backed firmly by both the Morgans and the Pierce family.

Among the younger generation of the three powerful families, she stood out with an extraordinary status.

The Hale family had moved overseas 20 years ago. The current family head lacked real ability and merely lived off their old family fortune. People with sharp eyes and wide connections all knew the Hales had long been pushed out of the top-tier wealthy circle and had sunk down to

That was why all the guests Evan invited were only heirs from minor families and newly rich socialites. None of the genuine high-class young nobles had bothered to attend such casual gatherings.

“The daughter of the Sloan family? Of course I can invite her over. Don’t you know who I am? My charm is unstoppable.”

A young man dressed in a denim jacket, black striped trousers, with dyed blonde hair and earrings, puffed out his chest proudly, soaking up all the flattering remarks from the crowd.

“I’m going to go say hello.” Evan kicked his legs casually and pushed through the surrounding crowd.

He was certain he had never sent any invitation to the Sloan family. He assumed they had come voluntarily just to curry favor with him.

All the onlookers watched him walk forward with eager anticipation.

Most small families could never get close to the Sloans or Marlows, yet everyone thought Evan had easily won them over.

“I don’t think Hallie came here to join his party,” someone whispered as they watched the two girls being led by waiters straight past the noisy hall toward the private room.

“That’s impossible! Evan is handsome and charismatic. It’s totally normal for them to be impressed by him.”

Jay, one of Evan’s loyal followers with a scrawny build, glared sharply at the girl who spoke, full of blind admiration for Evan.
