Chapter 230 Provoking Trouble

“Exactly! No one can match Evan. Look, even Miss Sloan has shown up!”

The boy named Ryn with dyed red hair beside Evan kept pouring out flattery without pause.

“Evan, let’s go over there right away. They must be lost and haven’t noticed you standing here.”

A crowd of followers swarmed around Evan and pushed him forward.

The girl who had been glared at dared not say a word, though she rolled her eyes inwardly.

Evan might look decent among ordinary people, but Hallie had grown up surrounded by stunning beauties and handsome elites. Her cousin Leighton was strikingly handsome, so how could she ever take a shallow guy like Evan seriously?

The same went for Zora; all her elder brothers were exceptionally good-looking.

Only these arrogant and overly confident fellows would assume such elegant young ladies would fall for them easily.

Evan had overheard that girl’s quiet comment, yet he remained extremely smug about his own looks. He firmly believed his charm was irresistible and was certain he could win over the two

young women.

He was especially drawn to the sweet, gentle-looking girl on the right, thinking she seemed fun to mess with.

As for the sharp, bold girl on the left, he held no interest in her at all.

Evan tossed his hair casually, whistled softly, and lifted his chin high, staring displeasedly at the two girls who kept walking forward.

He had already come out to greet them, yet they kept moving ahead without a single glance, utterly lacking good manners.

“Hey! The party is right here. Where do you think you’re going? Can’t you even find the right place? Aren’t you here to admire me? You’re being so rude! Come over and have a drink, and I’ll let your mistake slide.”

Their frivolous and conceited words made both Hallie and Zora frown deeply.

“The Hale family has truly fallen far to raise someone like him,” Hallie glanced coldly at the arrogant Evan and spoke in a calm, indifferent tone.

The Hale family…

Zora’s gaze turned icy as she sized him up. His tacky outfit, dyed blonde hair, and ripped jeans

only made him look mediocre at best.

Leighton had long told her to stay far away from men of this sort. He could not hold a candle to her mentor in any way.

Ever since Zora had begun suspecting her mentor’s real identity, she had looked up plenty of information about the Hale family online.

The huge explosion incident that happened to the Hale family years ago had once caused a massive stir both domestically and abroad, covered widely by all kinds of news outlets.

Back then, three core members of the main Hale household had suffered fatal harm. It was strange that they had left the manor ahead of time, while her mentor’s family met disaster the very next night.

Many online rumors claimed that collateral branches of the Hale family had secretly plotted the whole tragedy and were most likely the masterminds behind it all.

Because of that, Zora harbored a deep dislike toward all people from the Hale’s side branches.

If those rumors were true, these people were living lavish lives built upon the blood and pain of her mentor’s family.

The thought sent a chill running down her spine.

The two girls paid them no mind and kept walking steadily forward.

“Mr. Hale, please do not disturb other guests.” A waiter stepped forward and tried to mediate.

The cold attitudes of Zora and Hallie left all the onlookers whispering among themselves.

“Could it be they really didn’t come here to see Evan?”

“That makes sense. With Miss Sloan’s status, she would never care for such a casual small party.”

All those murmurs of speculation fell straight into Evan’s ears, making his face twist with rage.

“You two playing deaf? I give you grace, yet you spit on it?”

Evan strode forward abruptly, shoved the waiter aside, and reached out to grab Zora’s wrist.

In the blink of an eye, Hallie grabbed him neatly and tossed him heavily onto the ground with a perfect shoulder throw.

“Ah!”

Evan let out a sharp cry of pain the moment he crashed onto the floor.

“Evan!”

“Are you hurt?”

“How dare you lay hands on him!”

Everyone present was utterly shocked by Hallie’s sudden move. Someone had already turned off the loud party music, leaving only the noisy shouts of Evan’s panicked followers echoing through the hall.

“I hit him, so what? If he dares to act rudely again, I’ll break his hands for sure.” Hallie swept a cold glare over the crowd.

Zora stood safely shielded behind her, slipping the silver needles she had just taken out back into her pocket.

She had originally planned to prick the arrogant man herself.

“You bitch, how dare you hit me?”

Evan’s whole body ached terribly. He had never suffered such humiliation in all his years. Supported by his friends, he struggled to his feet and stared furiously at the two girls with hostile eyes.

“So what if I did? I can easily break every bone in your hand if I want to,” Hallie retorted sharply without the slightest trace of fear, even facing such a large group of people.

Burning stares from all directions landed firmly on Evan’s face, filling his heart with overwhelming fury.

He had lost all his dignity in front of so many people. If he let this go, he would never be able to hold his head high in high society ever again.

He cared nothing about their connections to the Sloan or Marlow families. He was determined to teach these two girls a harsh lesson right here and now. Being humiliated by two young women was the greatest shame he had ever endured.

He still believed the Hale family’s former glorious status was more than enough to make others fear them.

“Fine! All of you, move forward and teach these two a proper lesson! Anyone who does a good job will get a jar of White Jade Balm from me as a reward!”
