Chet put on his reading glasses. He knew Leighton hated other people touching his stuff, so he looked through the things carefully.
Longan flesh, deer fawn herb, poria cocos, jujube seed, platycladus seed, polygala root, angelica, tendrilled fritillary bulb, white peony root, rehmannia root, amber, hematite, cinnabar, white ginseng, sophora flower, dwarf lilyturf, schisandra, licorice, nacre, chrysanthemum, fleeceflower root.
All these herbs were for treating insomnia.
“Can this herb sachet alone help you sleep?” Chet asked seriously.
They had struggled with this problem for years. It was impossible for a simple herb sachet to fix
“I need pills too,” Leighton said.
The sachet alone wasn’t enough.
He had to take pills alongside it.
The scent of the sachet could make him a little sleepy after a while. But the second he closed
his eyes, messy images would flood his mind and keep him awake. Yet if he held one pill in his mouth and followed her advice not to overthink…
“Did you bring the pills?”
Chet’s voice turned deep.
Leighton had brought them. He was staying here tonight. He couldn’t sleep without the pills, and he didn’t want Zora to worry about him tomorrow.
Leighton took out a small bottle. There were only a few pills left inside.
Chet poured one out and smelled it closely. His eyes flickered slightly.
“What did Zora tell you?”
“She told me not to overthink things.”
“You lucky kid. Meeting Zora is the best thing that ever happened to you.”
Chet handed the bottle back and patted Leighton on the shoulder.
No doubt the Hale family had raised an amazing girl. She knew exactly how to soothe a person’s mind.

With Zora by his side, Leighton would never ruin his health completely.
“I know that too.” Leighton’s eyes curved lazily, filled with bright smiles like starlight.

Leighton walked upstairs. The younger generation’s rooms were on the third floor, while Chet and Elara lived on the second floor.
Zora’s room was next to Hallie’s.
Leighton’s room was right across the corridor from theirs.
“Zora.”
Leighton walked up to her door and knocked.
“Coming! Wait a second!”
A flustered voice came from inside the room.
“Take your time,” Leighton said softly, hearing hurried footsteps inside.
The door opened soon after. Zora held her head with one hand and pulled the door the other. She tilted her head and stared at the person outside.

“Why are you here?” Zora looked confused.
“Can’t get your hair undone?” Leighton lowered his eyes and couldn’t help but smile.
Zora’s hair was all messy. The tassels of her hair ornaments were tangled in her strands. There was still a trace of annoyance in her eyes.
She had gotten mad just trying to take her hairstyle down.
“Mhm,” Zora replied in a muffled tone, still pouting in frustration.
She had worn too many hair ornaments with tassels. She had never done such a complicated hairstyle before. After dinner, she went back to her room, planning to wash her hair and take everything down.
But she struggled for ages. The ornaments snagged her scalp and hurt, and her hands grew tired. The more she tried, the angrier she got for no reason.
She tilted her head just now because the tassels were stuck in her hair. Straightening her head would hurt.

She had wanted to ask Hallie for help, but Hallie was taking a shower.

Hallie wore a wig, which was easy to take off. Zora had used her real long hair for the updo, so it was way more troublesome.
“Hold this for me. I’ll fix your hair.”
Leighton saw her wince in pain every now and then. He handed her a plate of strawberries, then walked behind her. He gently untangled the tassels stuck in her hair.
The tassels were caught at the back of her head. She had stared at the mirror for ages and couldn’t get them out.
“Thank you.”
Once the ornament was off, Zora finally stopped tilting her head. She let out a sigh of relief.
“Come in and sit down. I’ll take the rest out for you.”
Leighton glanced at her messy hair and her pouty face. He poked her chubby cheek, making her deflate instantly. He smiled lazily and said, “You’re pouting like a puffer fish. Poor baby, all
upset.
“Why didn’t you ask me for help?”
Zora sat down at the vanity table. Leighton stood behind her, carefully untangling her messy hair strand by strand.
“I didn’t think it’d be this hard.”

It was her first time wearing such a complicated hairstyle, and she never expected it to be so tricky to undo.
“Next time come find me right away. I hate seeing you upset like this.”
Leighton’s voice was lazy and casual, yet his eyes were soft and focused on the girl munching on strawberries.
“Okay.” Zora stuffed a big strawberry in her mouth, her cheeks puffed out. “Want one?”
She picked a white strawberry and held it back to feed him.
“Hold it higher. I can’t reach.”
Zora glanced at the mirror. He was so tall that his head was out of the frame. All she could see was his lean waist in a black suit, accentuated by his dark belt that looked really nice.
