“He’s grabbing my finger!” Zora exclaimed in surprise.

The baby’s tiny hands were incredibly soft. He only managed to wrap one little hand around her pinky, warm and gentle. Zora had never been around such a small baby before, and she thought he was adorable.

“Waaah-”

The baby babbled nonstop, his big eyes fixed firmly on Zora the whole time, as if he was trying to talk to her.

“What’s he saying?” Zora asked curiously.

“No clue.” Easton scratched his head. He definitely didn’t understand baby talk. “But he likes you a lot. He never lets strangers touch him normally.”

This little guy was usually super stubborn. He threw a huge fuss whenever unfamiliar people tried to hold or touch him.

Easton still remembered the first time he held the baby. He’d gotten peed on all over his

clothes.

“He really likes me?” Zora asked softly.

It was her first time interacting with such a tiny baby. His face was barely the size of her palm, soft and squishy all over. She didn’t dare touch him too hard, scared she might hurt his fragile little body.

As if he understood her words, the baby tightened his grip on Zora’s finger, responding to what Easton had just said.

“Yep, he’s totally into you,” Easton said confidently.

The little baby was actually pretty smart. If Easton was wrong, he would’ve started crying immediately. Since he stayed quiet, Easton knew he was right.

“Hey, baby, this is for you.”

Zora’s eyes curved into a sweet smile. She opened her small bag and took out a string of white prayer beads.

The beads were top quality, round and smooth, and carried a faint herbal scent.

She gently placed the bead string into the baby’s tiny hand.

“Zora, you don’t have to give him such a nice gift…”

Easton could tell the beads were precious and quickly tried to refuse.

But the second the beads touched his hand, the baby stretched out his other little hand and gripped them tightly. He still held onto Zora’s finger, pressed his chubby cheek against her hand, and smiled brightly at her. His big eyes were filled only with her figure, looking so sweet it melted people’s hearts.

“Waah-” He babbled twice more, almost like he was saying thank you.

Easton fell speechless.

“Hey, give that back to her.”

He reached out to take the beads back and return them to Zora.

But the baby held on tight. The second he felt Easton trying to take them away, he pouted and looked like he was about to burst into tears.

Easton instantly felt a headache just seeing his expression.

He screamed at the top of his lungs once he started crying.

“Easton, it’s fine. I’m giving it to him.” Zora stopped him. “I’m happy he likes me. It’s not expensive anyway. I didn’t bring any other gifts with me, only this string of beads.

“It’s really good for his health though. These beads are soaked in hundreds of medicinal herbs. They can nourish the body and ward off toxins. They even change color if they come into contact with poisonous substances.”

Zora had found the white beads while sorting her things the night before and tossed them into her bag on a whim. It worked out perfectly, giving her a little gift for the baby.

She brushed the baby’s soft cheek again, a warm smile on her pink lips. “I really like him.”

“You lucky little guy.” Easton poked the baby’s cheek. “Hurry up and thank her. Remember how nice Zora is to you and repay her someday.”

There was no point refusing anymore. Plus the beads were beneficial. Easton was pretty tempted by all those good effects himself.

He stared at the baby clutching the beads tightly, shaking his head amusedly.

He’d only brought the baby out here to rest for a minute, never expecting the little guy to score such a nice gift.

He could smell the faint calming herbal scent coming off the beads. Those herb-soaked health beads were super valuable, and the baby had gotten lucky.

Their social circle was full of schemes and hidden fights. It looked glamorous on the surface. but there was endless backstabbing and hidden danger behind the scenes. People would do anything for money and power.

Families like the Marlows, Sloans and Pierces, where siblings got along peacefully and never fought or competed with each other, were extremely rare.

For the little baby, Dylan Blake, who was still so young and vulnerable, a toxin-repelling treasure like these beads was great protection. Easton couldn’t bring himself to turn down the gift anymore.

The baby couldn’t talk, but when he heard Zora say she liked him, he shook her hand lightly, as if agreeing with Easton’s words.

“Grow up healthy and strong, okay?” Zora smiled and touched his cheek again, her blessing sincere and warm.

Easton couldn’t stay and chat for long. Today’s banquet was hosted by his family, so he had plenty of work to do.

As noon drew near, more and more guests flooded into the hall.

Zora and Hallie followed Elara around again to greet more people.

It was almost time for the formal seating arrangement. Seats at banquets like this were never random; every spot had its own status and rules.

Zora and Hallie were arranged in the second row.

The first row was always reserved for the most respected, powerful and high-status guests.
