Chapter 293 The Empty Manor

They wandered around for half the morning and only managed to see half of the manor.

Eventually, they headed to the dining room, where the servants began serving dishes one after another.

It was Zora’s first visit, and the chefs had pulled out all their best recipes for her.

Zora fell silent. She finally understood why the female leads in novels could never escape their manors no matter how hard they tried; these places were genuinely massive.

She had ridden a sightseeing cart for two full hours earlier and only covered a third of the land.

That was only the outer area. She hadn’t stepped foot inside the inner grounds at all.

The servants relied entirely on robotic vacuums for daily cleaning. If they tried to clean the whole manor on foot, they would be completely worn out afterward.

“Miss, we weren’t sure what flavors you prefer, so we prepared a little bit of every cuisine style.”

George stood respectfully beside Zora. The long dining table was covered with food, and servants lined up behind her.

The staff were extremely attentive. The second Zora’s gaze landed on any dish, a servant would immediately scoop some onto her plate.

Zora felt like she was being treated like royalty.

She never expected the long table to be filled completely.

She only relaxed after George told her all the leftover food would be eaten by the servants and would not go to waste.

After a simple lunch, George dutifully showed Zora around the inner parts of the manor.

This had once been her mentor’s home, so Zora did not refuse his guidance.

They spent the entire afternoon touring the general layout of the inner grounds.

Even so, they only scratched the surface. The surrounding facilities, including the orchards, horse stables, sports courts, and more, were far too large to explore in a single day.

By the end of the day, Zora returned to the main mansion building.

This was where her mentor’s family had once lived.

She stood in the spacious living room. The ceiling towered high above with an open hollow

design, and a spiral staircase wound upward floor by floor. The main building had a total of 20

stories.

She glanced around. The walls were decorated with exquisite, priceless paintings, and every ornament placed around the room was extremely valuable.

George maintained the manor perfectly. The whole place was spotless and stunningly beautiful, just like a fairy-tale castle.

Yet Zora could not feel a single trace of warmth or life within it.

It was beautiful, but the beauty felt empty and hollow.

The owner of this grand manor was gone.

The sky began to darken, and it was time for Zora to head back to Aria Estates.

“Miss, you’re not staying the night?”

George stared at her helplessly as she prepared to leave.

She had barely arrived and was already leaving so soon. It felt as if she was abandoning everyone in the manor.

“I’ll come back again soon.”

Zora could not bear to watch the sixty-year-old man acting so pitiful and desperate.

George aged well. Though he was 60, he looked no older than fifty.

“Wonderful! We’ll all be waiting for you, Miss!

“Just send me a message whenever you plan to visit, and I’ll come pick you up myself.”

George beamed with joy, his eyes crinkling into happy slits.

He quickly arranged for a driver to take Zora back to Aria Estates.

Zora turned around and glanced back at the manor. She would definitely return. This was her mentor’s home.

The second Zora left the manor, news of her visit reached Mevoria.

Celyn stepped away from her desk and knocked gently on the closed office door.

“Come in.” A cold, low voice echoed from inside the room.

Celyn held her breath slightly and pushed the door open quietly.

A man with an icy, elegant demeanor sat behind the large desk. The office temperature was kept constant by the climate system.

Asher hung his head slightly. His side profile was sharp and flawless. His pale hand pressed lightly against his mouth, and soft coughs escaped him every few seconds.

His slender frame hunched faintly, with a camel-colored shawl draped loosely over his thin shoulders.

“What is it?”

Sensing the newcomer, Asher lifted his eyes. His eyes were steady and bright, and his voice rang clear and melodic.

Celyn had seen this stunning face countless times, yet she still couldn’t help but marvel every time. Nature had truly favored him above all others.

“Sir, the manor staff just reported that Zora visited the estate today.”

“Did everyone treat her well?”

Only at the mention of Zora did a hint of warmth finally surface in Asher’s expression.

A faint, gentle smile tugged at his lips at the thought of her.

His little princess had gone to the manor. He wondered if she liked it.

“You have nothing to worry about. I check in on the staff every month to make sure they treat her properly.

“The butler said she plans to come stay there sometime soon.”

Celyn’s heart twinged faintly as she watched the life return to his eyes whenever Zora was mentioned.

Only Zora could bring a trace of ordinary warmth to his cold life.

“Speed up the settlement of the Hale Group matters. The Hales tried sending their youngest son back to the country to hide from trouble, but he’s nothing but a foolish idiot.

“He ran straight into trouble the moment he returned and ended up ruined. Now the Hales are distracted, trying every means to bail him out of prison. They’re unfocused and full of vulnerabilities right now.

“Stop dragging this out. Wrap everything up before the new year.”

Asher’s expression turned cold in an instant. He was done playing games with them.

Zora was smart. With Jensen and the others by her side, she had most likely already guessed his true identity.
