The small town hospital had basic medical gear and no security cameras at all.

Wendy went into labor there on the exact same day as Eira. It was no mere coincidence. Wayne had come to inspect this town, which was where Eira lived.

More than ten years had passed since then. Almost all the old hospital staff had left and been replaced. Back then, cameras were hardly used in public places. It took Jensen quite a lot of effort to track down the nurse who had helped deliver the two babies.

The woman was now elderly and stayed home to look after her grandchildren. When Jensen’s people first found her, she grew wary and refused to speak, fearing trouble.

They assured her she would be safe, promised to protect her fully, and offered her a sum of money if she told the whole truth. Later, they arranged a safe ride to bring her over.

She had arrived in the city the previous day. Jensen had been waiting for a proper chance to tell Wendy everything. Now that Wendy had caused another scene, the timing could not have been better.

“Two women went into labor at our hospital that day,” the elderly nurse began slowly. “One was this lady right here, and the other was the woman in the video on your phone. Their due dates were nearly the same.

“This lady went into labor first. She struggled badly and was close to passing out. We called her husband in to comfort her. But once he stepped inside, his eyes kept drifting to the other patient in the next bed-the woman from your phone. We had to remind him to check on his own wife.

“Even so, he quietly told us to make sure the other mother and baby stayed safe.

“This lady’s delivery was tough. It took her ages to give birth to a baby girl. The other woman had an easier time and also had a baby girl. Since she arrived a little later, both babies were born around the same time.

“We were short-handed that day. After the births, we laid the two infants side by side, then hurried back to check on the mothers.

“I turned to look at the babies a moment later. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw this lady’s husband secretly swap the two little girls.

“He looked like a powerful man, so I kept quiet and pretended I saw nothing. I watched him nod at the other woman afterward.

“By then, the new mother here had fainted from exhaustion. Soon after, this lady, her baby and her husband left the delivery room. The other woman had no husband around. Once she regained her strength, she picked up ‘her own baby’ and walked out.
