Chapter 322 The Fall of the Knox Family

Easton put it plainly.

While Zora was living a sweet, sheltered life, doted on by everyone around her, the Knox family fell on hard times. Nothing but bad luck and chaos loomed over their home.

Down at the Knox Villa, over a dozen police officers filled the huge living room, standing rigid and silent.

“After a full investigation,” one officer announced formally, “Mrs. Wendy Knox is charged with attempted murder. Mr. Wayne Knox faces child abandonment charges.

“Mr. Yale Knox bribed individuals to steal internal confidential files from the Pierce Group. This is a criminal theft of trade secrets.

“Ms. Jolie Knox is guilty of false prosecution, attempted murder, and theft.

“Mr. Anton Knox is charged with abusing his legal authority for personal gain. All of you need to come with us for official questioning.”

The room fell dead quiet as the officer rattled off one crime after another. Every cop in the room locked their eyes on the stunned Knox family members.

Five people in this six-person household were criminals.

The police had been just as shocked when they got the report. This family was basically a crime

crew.

“All that stuff was already settled!” Jolie’s voice shook with raw panic. She scrambled back, trying to dodge the officer who moved to cuff her. “Tessa dropped the case against me! Why are you arresting me now? And theft? I never stole a single thing!”

Dark purple bruises marred her face, fresh and obvious. Wendy had beaten her badly.

She’d been locked alone in her room for days, suffering horribly. No phone, no proper food- she’d eaten worse than a stray dog. In the middle of the night, Wendy would suddenly snap, yank her out of bed, and beat her for no reason. No one ever stepped in to help. Jolie had completely broken down under the constant abuse.

Wendy’s gentle, loving attitude was long gone. These days, she took every bit of her anger and frustration out on Wayne and Jolie.

No woman could handle finding out her husband’s secret daughter had been living right under her roof. Wendy had totally lost her mind.

It was Leighton who’d filed the police report against Yale.

Anton’s crimes came from an old court case. A young high school girl had fallen into severe depression after relentless bullying. Her parents had sold their house just to fight for justice for their daughter.

Anton’s law firm had defended one of the bullies. That bully happened to be Jolie’s best friend. Jolie had begged Anton to keep her friend out of prison, and he’d caved in and helped her.

But the old case had resurfaced. No amount of power could protect the Knox family anymore.

The Knox family was crumbling from every angle, and no one dared to lift a finger to help them.

“This can’t be real!” Wendy screamed in disbelief. “I’m their daughter! How could they do this to me? Who called the cops? It’s the Marlows, isn’t it? They’re actually doing this…”
