Chapter 326 The Hidden Truth

:

When Wendy woke up the next morning, the spot beside her in bed was empty.

She’d never once doubted that Wayne was the man she’d slept with all those years ago.

\

But after that night, Wayne never touched her again. He always looked at her with a weird, disgusted glint in his eyes.

Back then, she’d been too busy trying to be a good wife to notice how he really felt.

Wayne had held this massive secret in silence for over a decade. He’d been unbelievably patient.

“This isn’t my fault. You walked into the wrong room.”

That night, Wayne had gotten a text from Eira. He’d actually had feelings for her.

He’d switched hotel rooms and texted Wendy, telling her he was tied up and she shouldn’t

come over.

Wendy had left her phone at home and never saw the message.

She showed up right after Wayne left, walked straight into his old hotel room, and spent the night with a total stranger without knowing it.

When Wayne got home the next day, he’d seen fresh hickeys and scratch marks all over her body.

And Wendy had just smiled shyly, gushing about how rough he’d been the night before.

Rage had burned hot inside Wayne in that moment.

But his company was still new, and he relied heavily on the Marlow family’s power and connections. If the truth got out, everything he’d built would collapse.

So he’d bottled up his anger and kept the secret to himself.

“This is all your fault!” Wayne laughed cruelly, watching Wendy fall apart. “You were reckless and shameless. You’re nothing but trash!”

He’d been tired of pretending all these years. Finally getting to say how he felt was such a relief.

“I’ll kill you!”

“So that’s why Wayne was always so cruel to Zora,” Hallie mumbled, biting into her apple. Her

eyes were wide with shock after hearing Easton’s explanation. “She’s not even his kid. Who would’ve guessed?”

The whole mess was insanely dramatic. Real life really had wilder plot twists than fiction.

“Have some mango,” Maya said softly.

She sat on the edge of Zora’s bed, holding a fork out for her.

“My hands are totally fine now,” Zora protested. “You guys don’t have to treat me like I’m breakable.”

Zora tried to take the fork herself, but Maya gently pulled her hand away and fed the fruit to her lips. Zora had no choice but to lean in and eat.

Ever since Maya came over, Zora hadn’t lifted a finger. Maya took perfect care of her.

For two whole weeks, Zora’d lived an easy, spoiled life.

People fed her, kept her company, and let her do whatever she wanted.

“Just take it easy and heal fully first,” Easton said in a soft, coaxing tone. “Once you’re strong again, you can do everything yourself.”

No one expected her vacation to be so chaotic.

Even on the final day of the holiday, trouble had found her.

Her friends hadn’t seen her at school, so they’d asked around and found out she’d taken leave. That was how they’d learned everything she’d been through.

“I can go back to school tomorrow,” Zora said.

After two weeks of rest, her hands were almost fully healed.

All the good meals had brought the color back to her face. She’d slimmed out too; her baby fat was gone, leaving her jaw sharp and delicate.

She looked more mature and gorgeous than before.

Easton and the others didn’t stay long. They headed home once they checked the time.

Zora walked them to the door.

Leighton had left for the office earlier on purpose. He’d wanted to give them privacy, knowing everyone would feel awkward with him hanging around.

“Maya, wait!” Zora called out just as Maya was about to step out.

“What is it? Let me help,” Maya stopped and asked gently.

“No need, just wait one second.”

Zora hurried to the balcony and grabbed a pack of herbal medicine from the table.

Maya followed her and quickly took the bags from her hands.

“I prepped a week’s worth of herbal tonics for your mom,” Zora said. “Next time I visit, I’ll check her condition and adjust the formula for her.”

Zora had only seen Maya’s mom through video calls lately. Kimberly had lost all her memories and acted just like a child who needed constant care.

Maya had hired a full-time caregiver to look after her.

“Thank you. My mom talks about you all the time.” Maya smiled.

“That’s so sweet. I’ll definitely come see her soon.”

The two walked together to the front door.

“I’ll bring you something good to eat tomorrow,” Maya said, gently fixing Zora’s messy clothes.

Zora nodded. “Sounds good.”

Right as they talked, the elevator dinged and stopped.

Leighton stepped out, carrying a few shopping bags.

“Leighton,” Maya greeted him softly.

“Hey. Stay for dinner?” Leighton’s eyes lingered on Maya’s face for a second. Her eyes felt weirdly familiar, like he’d seen them somewhere before.

“I can’t. My mom’s waiting for me at home,” Maya politely refused.
