Chapter 329 Zora’s Growth
Jensen’s voice was cold and sharp.

The day before, Wendy had beaten Wayne pretty badly. She’d nearly choked him out, then bit his neck hard enough to make blood gush nonstop.
Wayne was hurt too bad to be detained right away, so the police sent him to the hospital first.
But early the next morning, nurses doing their morning rounds found his bed empty.
They checked the security cameras and figured out what had happened.
During a routine checkup, Wayne had snuck onto a stretcher meant for bodies being taken to the morgue.
He used that trick to escape the hospital. By the time anyone noticed, he was long gone.
Leighton frowned when he heard the news.
“I’ll send people to look for him. He’s badly injured and just ran off. He won’t dare cause trouble right now. He’ll definitely lay low and heal up first.”
Meanwhile, Zora walked into her classroom.
Her classmates hadn’t seen her in two weeks. Everyone crowded around her, asking if she was okay.
They only stepped back once Zora kept reassuring them she’d fully recovered.
After the crowd scattered, Tessa stepped into view from the back of the room.
“You feeling better?”
Tessa’s quiet, gentle eyes were full of worry.
Most students had no clue why Zora’d taken time off, but Tessa knew a little. Her gaze drifted down to Zora’s hand.
“I’m all good now. Thanks for caring.” Zora nodded.
“That’s good.” The two weren’t close. Tessa didn’t stay to chat and walked back to her seat.
Zora sat down at her desk, grinning to herself.
“Wow, I was gone for two weeks, and everyone’s even nicer to me now.”
“Haha! Zora, you’re getting so cocky!” Easton turned around and laughed.

“I look this good. I’m allowed to be a little cocky, right?”
Zora smiled and pulled a small mirror out of her desk to check her face.
“If I looked this pretty, I’d be cocky too.”
Easton stared at her gorgeous face, and the tips of his ears turned slightly pink.
Zora used to have soft baby fat that made her look cute and innocent. But after her recent sickness, that roundness was gone.
Her sharp, pretty facial features stood out way more now. She looked absolutely stunning-the kind of beautiful that caught everyone’s eye instantly.
“You know you’ve changed a ton, right?” Easton spun his pen in his fingers, looking at her.
“When you first transferred here, you were so quiet and shy. You barely talked to anyone.
“Now you can say cocky stuff like that without even feeling embarrassed.”
When they first met Zora, she was quiet, obedient, and kind of reserved. She hated bothering other people and seemed like a total goody-two-shoes.
But only three months had passed, and she was a totally new person-bright, outgoing, and super confident.
It was obvious how loved and well taken care of she was.
The Marlows spoiled her, the Morgan family gave her so much warmth, and Leighton slowly helped her open up more.
He’d taught her to be confident and lively, while still keeping her kindness and gentle heart. She’d also gained her own personality and edge.
“Really?”
Zora looked at her reflection. Her eyes were bright, and she had a big, easy smile on her face.
She really was way different from when she’d first left the Knox family.
Back then, she almost never smiled.
Now she caught herself smiling all the time.
Zora had always been slow with her emotions.
She never felt super happy or super sad like everyone else. After her mentor left, she’d basically

There was never much for her to be happy about. Living with the Knox family afterward left her barely smiling at all.
Her emotions slowly started coming back only after Jensen took her in with the Marlow family.
But the biggest, most obvious change happened after she met Leighton.
He was the only one who could easily stir up all kinds of feelings in her heart.
The first time they met, she’d thought he was a little silly.
The second time, she realized rich bosses really do have tons of health issues and Leighton had so many of them.
The third time, he’d given her small gifts. Later, when Hallie told her how expensive those gifts were, she’d thought he was generous for someone he’d just met a few times.
Fourth, fifth, sixth meetings… then seeing him every single day.
Every time they interacted, his words and gestures stirred fleeting feelings of joy, security, trust, and even pain.
Now, all her emotions were vivid and alive.
New people had walked into her life, while some others had left.
All these experiences filled her days and slowly changed her for the better.
“Yeah.”
Easton and Felix, who sat in front of her, nodded at the exact same time.
