Chapter 330 A Whole New Zora
Everyone could tell Zora had changed a lot.
Old Zora was just like a soft flower. Quiet, slow, and gentle.

She’d always been pretty enough to grab people’s attention, but she never stood out. She never fought or chased after anything. She just blended into the crowd, quiet and unassuming, like she’d disappear without anyone noticing.
But now? She was like a cappuccino rose. Soft, warm, and one-of-a-kind.
Bright, lively, and slowly blooming, glowing with her own special light.
“Well duh! Look who’s been taking care of her! The Knoxes just suck the life out of her. Only we could bring up such a gorgeous sweetie.” Hallie looked super proud.
She knew Leighton did all the work, but they were family. She had no shame bragging about it.
Hallie’s grades had gotten better, so she’d moved seats and sat one row behind Zora now.
Zora and the others liked their original spots, so they never bothered moving.
Maya was the top student in the class and got to pick her own seat. She’d chosen to sit next to
Zora.
“Zora.”
Maya walked into the classroom while the group chatted.
She used to show up super early every day, but she’d been coming in later lately to look after her mom.
“You’re here!” Zora smiled right away.
“Yeah.” Maya held a white box in her hand.
“Did you bring me something good?” Zora’s eyes locked onto the box.
“Wanna check?” Maya sat down and handed it over.
Zora opened the box and saw neat rows of pumpkin pies inside.
“Pumpkin pies!” Zora’s voice was full of joy.
She hadn’t gone to their favorite little diner in ages, and she’d really missed their pumpkin pies.
She’d even said yesterday that she wanted to go there for lunch today. She never thought she’d

get to eat them first thing in the morning.
“Try one. See if it tastes the same.” Maya smiled softly.
Zora took a bite and was totally shocked.
“It’s exactly the same! How’d you make this?”

“We figured it out.”
A tired voice sounded beside her.
Zora turned around, confused.
Easton, Felix, and Hallie all spoke at the same time.
“You were out for two weeks, so we tested these every single day,” Hallie complained, raising her hand.
“If you’d stayed gone any longer, we would’ve been traumatized by pumpkin pies.”
They all loved the diner’s pumpkin pies, so Maya kept baking new batches and making them
taste-test.
After two straight weeks of tasting, they were completely sick of them.
The friends joked and laughed, and time passed fast.
Soon enough, it was November. The weather turned cold, and Zora started wearing her thick
coat.
She slung her backpack over her shoulder and headed out of the classroom.
“School done? I’m outside the gates.”
Zora saw the text, replied she was finished, and walked slowly down the stairs.
“I’m gonna go visit your mom tomorrow,” Zora said to Maya with a smile.
They had their monthly break starting the next day.
“Sounds good.” Maya nodded.
Outside the school, Leighton’s car was parked by the road.
He wore a long black windbreaker over a simple white shirt, paired with black casual pants.
It was the simplest outfit ever, but he looked incredibly handsome and hard to miss.

He leaned against the car with one leg bent, his sharp features and tall figure standing out instantly.
He didn’t mess with his phone. He just stared toward the school, clearly waiting for someone.
Most students had already left. Zora had stayed late because she’d gotten stuck on some questions and asked Maya to help her study.
The second Zora saw him, her eyes lit up.
Maya noticed the way her face lit up at the sight of Leighton. She pressed her lips tight, and her eyes flickered faintly.
“You’re here.”
Zora walked quickly over to him, grinning happily.
“Of course I am. Gotta come pick my princess up.”
Leighton smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling. He took her backpack and slung it over his own shoulder.
Zora’s heart felt all warm and fuzzy.
She didn’t know about other people, but she loved being called his princess.
“Leighton.” Maya spoke up once they finished talking.
“Maya, I’ll drive you home first. Thanks for tutoring Zora lately.””
Leighton nodded politely.
Zora stayed after school to study every day now, so she got home much later than before.
Sometimes Leighton would finish cooking dinner, only to find Zora hadn’t come back yet. So he’d always go pick her up.
He felt really relieved that Maya was the one helping her with her schoolwork.
