Zora looked down at the blanket wrapped around her neck, then glanced up at Leighton. He

was carefully fixing the blanket for her, and she said nothing.

Guess he was rich enough not to care about small stuff like this.

Leighton walked into the kitchen to start cooking dinner.

Zora munched on her chips, being super careful not to get any grease on the blanket.

Leighton didn’t mind if it got dirty, but Zora knew how expensive these blankets were. She hated to ruin them now.

While eating her snack, she dug through her messy bag, trying to find her phone to text Maya.

Her bag was full of random things, and she fumbled around inside it for a second.

When she pulled out her phone, a white-and-gold card slipped out from the bottom of the bag

too.

Zora stared at the card and blinked. Her mentor had slipped it into her bag.

Now that she knew who he really was, holding this card felt a little weird.

He had always given her everything she needed, especially when it came to money.

He’d told her she could use the card anytime she was short on cash, and she knew it had to hold a ton of money.

Still, she’d never checked the balance.

She’d never really needed extra money anyway.

She stared at the card, suddenly curious. She wanted to check how much was in it someday, just to see how rich her mentor was.

All the sadness she’d felt before was gone now. She finally understood why he had to keep so many secrets.

Right now, all she wanted was for him to stay safe and sound.

She hadn’t gotten any news or gifts from him in two months.

After learning the truth, she didn’t even want him to rush back too fast.

He needed time to get his revenge. Zora knew him well. He wanted to come get her as soon as possible.

But she didn’t want him pushing himself too hard just to hurry back.

His safety mattered more than anything.

“What are you daydreaming about?”

Leighton walked over with a plate of cut, washed kiwis. He noticed her staring blankly at the card in her hand.

“Look what my mentor gave me.” Zora held the card out in her palm. “I wanna check how much money is in it. I’m just curious how rich he is.”

“This card has at least a billion dollars on it.” Leighton glanced at it. “You can only get this type of card if you have over a billion in your account.”

He had the same kind of card, gifted to him by his oldest brother.

Asher really spoiled Zora. Even the minimum amount on this card was massive.

“No way, that much?” Zora had no idea the card was this valuable.

“He’s way too nice to me,” she mumbled softly.

“He really is.” Leighton didn’t argue with that.

There was no denying how good Asher was to Zora.

He’d given her an entire medicinal herb base and even this priceless card. Every single thing showed how much he cared about her.

Most family members wouldn’t even do this much.

Zora looked up at him. “Do you think he’s safe right now?”

Meanwhile, over in Mevoria…

“Mr. Marlow, our boss isn’t here.” Celyn stood in the lounge, looking helpless. “You can work with other partners for this project.”

She had no clue why Jensen, the head of the Marlow Group, was so set on meeting her boss.

For a whole month, he’d showed up every few days without fail.

She’d told him multiple times her boss wouldn’t see him, but Jensen just wouldn’t quit.

“Ms. Croft, tell your boss this.” Jensen leaned back lazily in his chair, hands resting on his knees. He was totally used to being turned down now.

“The more he avoids me, the more curious I get. If he’d just meet me, I might drop this whole thing.”

He’d stayed in Mevoria for a month and still hadn’t caught a single glimpse of the person running MZ Group.

But every refusal only made him more certain of his guesses. He had to meet this man.

More than that, he was scared something bad had happened.

Asher loved Zora more than anything. He would never leave her back home alone unless he had absolutely no choice.

His constant refusal to meet only made Jensen more suspicious.

Over the past month, Jensen had watched MZ Group take over the Hale Group little by little.

Their tactics were cold and ruthless. They toyed with the Hale family’s business before pushing it straight to ruin.

The business world was just that cruel.

The Hale Group was completely swallowed up by MZ Group now.

On top of that, the Hale family’s head and his oldest son had vanished without a trace.

Secret rumors spread that they’d been kidnapped.

“Why do you insist on meeting our boss so badly?” Celyn asked, confusion clear on her face.

“I’ve been looking for him for 17 years.” Jensen stood up slowly and fixed his sleeve. “Tell him I’m never stopping.”

He’d hidden for 17 years, and Jensen knew this wouldn’t be

easy.

“Mr. Hale, Mr. Marlow has left.”
