She held it between two fingers, leaving almost no extra space at all.

His soft lips lightly brushed her warm skin as he ate.

She was just overthinking.

He fed her all the time, so it was normal for her to feed him too.

“What do you wanna eat for dinner?”

The two walked out of the basement. Zora had a lollipop in her mouth, skipping around casually.

Leighton carried her backpack in one hand, a light blue scarf draped over his other arm, watching her with a soft, gentle look in his eyes.

“What are you in the mood for?”

“Cheese fondue and garlic parmesan pasta,” Zora thought for a second and answered.

She could eat anywhere else, but they’d been apart for days.

She just really missed his cooking.

“Alright, I’ll make it as soon as we get settled in.”

Leighton hadn’t seen her in days, and he’d agree to anything she asked for right now.

“Leighton… Maya said she’ll meet that guy.”

Zora crunched her lollipop and turned to him, suddenly remembering the news.

“She did? I’ll reach out right away. If things go smooth, they can meet the day after tomorrow.”

Leighton wasn’t surprised at all.

He’d met Maya a few times before. She was smart and level-headed, always sure of her own choices.

“Okay, I’ll go tell her later.”

They walked through the front door. Zora bent down to take off her shoes, while Leighton stood behind her, neatly arranging her footwear.

Paying no mind to him, Zora spoke quickly. “I wanna have one bag of potato chips! I haven’t had any all week.”

She rushed over to her personal snack cabinet in the living room, which was stuffed full of all kinds of colorful treats.

Leighton had started a snack company just for her, making only safe, tasty food she loved.

That’s why her cabinet was always full of her favorite stuff.

“Only one bag. We’re having dinner soon.” Leighton walked after her and reminded her softly.

The living room heater was on, so it wasn’t cold. But she only wore a thin top, with her puffer jacket thrown on the sofa. He didn’t want her catching a chill.

“No, I’ll get grease on it.” Zora shook her head. “I’m not cold.”

Potato chips were greasy, and they’d definitely stain the blanket.

One bad stain would ruin the whole thing.

When she had no idea how expensive they were, she’d messed up so many of them without thinking.
