Chapter 365 Zora’s Performance

Every classroom around the school was full of energy. Sounds of different performances filled the air nonstop.

Snack tables lined both sides of the room, stacked with all kinds of treats and drinks.

The students laughed and messed around, having a great time.

Zora sat there munching chips and sipping coconut milk, watching the shows. The classroom curtains were all closed, with only warm fairy lights lighting up the room. Soft music played in the background.

There was everything-singing, dancing, board games, drawing, piano and violin solos, and even small skits.

Every kid in her class was super talented. Their families all hired top tutors to train them since they were little.

Every act they put on looked just as good as a professional show.

Ding-

Her phone on the desk buzzed suddenly.

Zora set down her drink and picked it up. A message popped up from Leighton, “Heard your school’s having a party today?”

“Yeah, how’d you know?”

Σ

Zora was caught off guard that he’d heard about her school event.

“People told me. Are you playing the harp later?”

“My classmates begged me to.”

“What time do you go on stage?”

Leighton glanced over the group of company leaders reporting to him, then checked the watch on his wrist.

He had no clue when she would perform, or if he could make it in time to watch.

He’d texted Hallie a while ago, but she still hadn’t replied.

Zora replied, “I’m last up. It’s still really early.”

Zora grabbed a chip and took a bite. She glanced at the performance list on Maya’s desk-her

spot was dead last.

She still had a long wait, about two or three more hours, probably around five o’clock.

Leighton asked, “Tell me the exact time. I’ll pick you up after school.”

Zora checked the time on the list again and typed the details back to him.

A tiny smile tugged at her lips when she saw he was coming to get her.

“What are you smiling about?”

Maya walked over and sat next to her, topping off her half-empty coconut milk.

“Nothing. Did you finish your performance?”

Zora locked her phone and noticed it was done.

The whole class had begged Maya to play the cello for them.

No one knew Maya could play the cello before today.

They’d been classmates for two years, and she’d never shown them this skill.

She always just did the voiceovers for all their school events.

No one guessed she was so amazing at playing the cello.

They’d just found out recently that Maya’s mom was a famous cello artist who learned from the best teachers in the field.

Maya’s mom had taught her to play before her health got bad.

“Yep, I’m done. Want some beef jerky?”

Maya didn’t push her to answer. She grabbed a pack of homemade beef jerky, tore it open, and handed it over.

“Mmm, this is so good.”

Zora took a bite. The beef jerky was thin and tasted amazing.

Maya was good at everything. She cooked great meals, baked delicious desserts, made all kinds of homemade snacks, had amazing grades, and even knew how to code.

“I made more at home. I just haven’t baked them yet. If you like these, you can come over tomorrow to get some.”

A soft smile showed in Maya’s gentle eyes when she saw how much Zora loved the snack.

“Sure! I wanna visit your mom too.” Zora agreed happily.

As soon as she said yes, Maya started planning all the treats she’d make for her tomorrow.

She’d bake butter cookies, since Zora loved those the most.

She also remembered that Zora wanted chocolate cake.

“Zora! Zora! It’s your turn now!”

Break time flew by fast. Before anyone realized, it was Zora’s turn to perform.

Hallie ran over to her, looking excited.

All the other classmates sat up straight, staring at her eagerly.

“Okay.”

Zora had just been eating chips, and her fingers were covered in crumbs. She was about to grab a tissue to wipe them off.

But then she felt a soft touch on her hands. She looked up and saw Maya holding a tissue, carefully wiping all the crumbs away for her.

Before Zora could react, Maya pulled back and gently patted her fingertips.

“Go on, Zora.”

“Thanks.”

There was no time to waste. Zora jogged over to the center of the classroom stage.

Easton and the other boys had already carried the harp over and set up a simple wooden stool next to it.

Zora’s outfit fit the vibe perfectly. She wore a white embroidered dress with ink painting patterns, a gift from Elara.

Zora really loved embroidered styles like this.

When Elara found out they shared the same taste, she started sending Zora tons of custom dresses every time she ordered new clothes for herself.

Zora had so many new outfits that she could wear a different one every single day.

Hallie had fixed her hair earlier.

Elara loved traditional outfits, and the two were super close. Hallie had watched stylists do Elara’s hair many times, so she was really good at doing elegant hairstyles.

Half of Zora’s long hair was tied up, and the rest fell over her right shoulder. It showed off her slim, fair neck and made her look super gentle. Her shoulders and back were slender and straight, lending her an elegant, soft air.
