Chapter 377 Waiting
He never thought Wayne wasn’t Zora’s real dad.

He knew Zora had grown up with no parents to love her. It had hurt him badly to leave her back home all those years.
But he’d never expected things to be this messed up.
The second he sensed she was in trouble, he sent her a key right away.
But right before she could use it, Leighton showed up out of nowhere.
Zora never even got the chance to try that key.
He knew Zora was treating Leighton. With the Pierces backing her up, no one dared dig into her private life.
The Pierce family was super protective of their people. If they took someone’s side, they’d never back down from a fight.
Knowing everything Zora had been through at the Knox Villa broke Asher’s heart.
He wanted every single person in the Knox family to pay for hurting her.
But the situation overseas was too dangerous. Asher couldn’t bring Zora to Mevoria. He didn’t even dare contact her.
He was scared the remaining underground forces abroad would trace his clues and find Zora.
“Yeah.”
“When are you coming back?” Jensen lifted his brows.
“Christmas,” Asher stayed quiet for a moment and answered.
“Why wait that long?”
“There are still some hidden forces I haven’t taken care of. I need to wipe them out first. I can’t bring any danger back to Zora.”
“That’s over a month from now.”
Jensen quickly counted the days.
Only 35 days were left until Christmas.

“I’m here!”
School finished in the afternoon. Zora and Maya rode home together.
They walked upstairs. Maya pulled out her keys and opened the door, with Zora walking right behind her.
“Zora! Zora!” A happy voice sounded from inside the house.
“Slow down, Kimberly. Put your shoes on first.”
It was a worried voice.
Right then, Zora saw two people. One was Kimberly, and the other was Kim.
Kim held a pair of fuzzy slippers and chased after Kimberly.
“Zora’s here! I wanna go see her!”
Kimberly slipped on her shoes in a hurry.
“Maya?”
Zora was a little surprised to see Kim in the living room.
“He refused to leave. He said he’s staying to take care of my mom.”
Maya glanced at Kim, who was still running after her mom with slippers in hand, sounding helpless.
Kim’s real name was Salvador Elliott. Kimberly had written his name in her diary, so she was the one who knew it.
Salvador had bought the house next door and came over whenever he had time.
He’d come over to help with housework every time Maya went to school.
Kimberly’s nerves were damaged by poison years ago. Her mind stayed like a little kid’s, and she was unlikely to fully recover.
Salvador only had memory loss. He was totally normal and could live a regular life.
Maya kept turning him away, so Salvador asked Tristan to buy the house next door for them.
Sometimes the nanny took Kimberly for walks in the neighborhood. Salvador would follow and slowly build a closer bond with her.

As soon as she saw Zora beside Maya, Kimberly walked over fast, grabbed her wrist, and rested her head on Zora’s shoulder. She sounded super dependent.
“I’m here. I’ve just been really busy lately.”
Zora patted her head and comforted her softly.
“You’ve been busy? Are you tired? Come in and sit down.”
Kimberly felt bad for her the second she heard that. She pulled Zora toward the sofa.
“Salvador, quick! Get Zora some yogurt, snacks and jelly!”
She called out to Salvador behind her.
Salvador nodded politely at Zora, then turned to get the snacks.
“Wait, I’ll do it. You’re too clumsy. You don’t even know which jelly Zora likes.”
Kimberly couldn’t stay still and insisted on picking the snacks herself.
The two of them searched through the snack box together.
“Maya, did you forgive Kim?”
Zora looked at the two of them, then turned to Maya, who walked out of the kitchen with small
cakes and cookies.
“No, I didn’t.” Maya glanced at Salvador calmly. “He just won’t leave. If he wants to stay and do all the work, let him. Mom barely has anyone to keep her company, so it’s better than nothing.”
She’d given him the cold shoulder many times, but he never left.
He’d already gained her mom’s trust, so Maya had no way to kick him out.
After Kimberly got sick, she acted like a child. She lost touch with all her old friends.
She’d stayed in a mental health facility before, so almost no one in the neighborhood wanted to be around her.
The only people Kimberly saw every day were Maya, the nanny and Zora. Sometimes Hallie, Felix and Easton came over too.
Now that Salvador was here, Kimberly had someone else to keep her company.
And Salvador never made empty promises. On the very first day they met, he transferred all
