The Real Heiress's New Family Adored By All novel Chapter 52

Chapter 52 Hidden Envy and Cold Confrontation

“Yeah, for real, she’s gorgeous! God, some people just have all the luck. Jolie is total life goals — she’s born into wealth, has a perfect family, plus three doting older brothers and loving parents. It’s enough to make anyone jealous.”

“That’s the second son of the Knox family beside her, right? Word is he’s a top-tier attorney. He’s always swamped with work, yet he still drops everything to drive her to school. He’s so handsome I could melt into the spot. I’d give anything to trade places with her and live that wealthy socialite life.”

Students passing by couldn’t hide their envy as they stared at Jolie and the tall, striking man beside her.

Basking in everyone’s admiring whispers, Jolie couldn’t stop her lips from curling into a smug smile.

“Tch, just another fake goody-two-shoes. Everyone’s blind to her act, falling right into her little game without seeing the truth,” someone muttered from the crowd.

“Thank you for driving me here, Anton. Don’t forget to rest well once you head back. Those dark circles under your eyes are pretty noticeable. No matter how busy you are, you still need to take care of yourself.”

Jolie spoke in a soft, tender tone.

When she got no reply after rambling on, she followed Anton’s gaze and spotted Zora standing not far away with Jensen and Reed.

Anton’s eyes were fixed firmly on Zora.

Jolie squeezed her palm tight.

She’d completely forgotten that Zora attended the same school.

Zora was truly spoiled rotten-Jensen had personally driven her here himself.

Reed showed zero resentment toward Zora either. He’d leaned in to whisper something that made her laugh softly.

Jolie struggled to keep up her gentle facade, pressing her lips together tightly.

“Anton… Zora, Jensen, and Reed are right over there. Should we go say hi?”

Pushing down her irritation, Jolie tilted her head and looked up at him with wide, doe-like eyes.

“Alright.” Anton nodded and walked over first.

Jolie froze inwardly.

She’d thought after what happened the day before, Anton would want nothing to do with Jensen and the others. She never expected him to agree so easily.

With no other choice, Jolie followed behind him.

“Jensen, Reed…”

Anton stepped forward, glancing at the three who stood chatting with easy smiles. His lips pressed into a thin line.

The trio fell silent at once, and the smile faded completely from Zora’s face.

“Anton.”

Reed could feel the tense atmosphere the second Anton approached, so he spoke up

He didn’t spare a single glance at Jolie standing behind him.

Jensen gave a slight, reserved nod.

“Jensen, Reed, Zora.”

first.

Jolie clearly sensed their cold disregard. Her expression turned stiff, yet she still forced on a sweet smile to greet them.

None of the three bothered to respond.

“Save it. We’re not close. My only cousin is Zora.”

The awkward silence dragged on until Reed broke it bluntly.

Zora was his only cousin, not this fake pretender.

“Reed, what did I do to upset you?”

Į

His public call-out hummed with quiet rage inside Jolie, but she put on a fragile, hurt look on her face.

“I just can’t stand your act. Don’t give me that sad puppy look-I can’t stand fake nice girls like you.”

Reed grew annoyed just seeing her pretend sorrow. She was always playing the victim, acting like everyone was picking on her for no reason.

It was Jolie who’d taken Zora’s place by accident, then pressured their aunt into sending Zora away from the Knox Villa.

If Jensen hadn’t found Zora back then, no one knew where she would have ended up.

Reed wasn’t naive enough to miss that Jolie had definitely twisted things behind the scenes to drive Zora out.

“Reed, that’s not true… I’ve already talked to Mom and Dad. I told them Zora can stay at the villa, and I’m willing to move out instead…”

Jolie’s face paled. No one had ever confronted her so directly before. She glanced hesitantly at Zora while tugging gently at Anton’s sleeve, silently begging him to defend her.

“If you mean that, why are you still living in the Knox Villa?” Reed shot back without hesitation.

Silence fell over Jolie instantly.

“You’re crossing a line, Reed. Even if Jolie and Zora were switched at birth, Jolie is still part of our family. What happened with Zora was just a misunderstanding. Mom already went to bring her home before; Zora chose not to come back on her own. None of this is Jolie’s fault.”

Anton tore his gaze away from Zora. Seeing Jolie’s wronged, teary expression, he spoke up in her defense.

Zora paid no mind to Anton’s words at all. She thought to herself that he was simply too foolish to reason with, and there was no point getting upset over him.

Bored, Zora absentmindedly twisted the little bear charm hanging from her backpack.

“Anton, you treat Zora like a stranger. Anyone listening would think Zora isn’t even blood- related to your family. The way you talk about her is so cold and distant, just like she’s an outsider,” Reed scoffed quietly.

Jensen was totally right-the whole Knox family really did have something wrong with their heads.
