Chapter 59 The Whole School Buzzes With Secrets

Jolie had been scrolling through the campus forum, and a faint smirk tugged at her lips as she read all the bashing comments targeting Zora.

So what if Zora had enrolled at Havenridge High? This school was Jolie’s territory through and through.

She was determined to ruin Zora’s reputation here for good.

Jolie had always kept up a flawless public image at school-gentle, poised, from a wealthy family, and beautiful enough to be the campus belle everyone admired. She had countless people backing her up.

That morning, someone had snapped a carefully angled photo of her confrontation with Zora and posted it to the campus forum, instantly stirring up a wave of hate toward Zora.

Jolie had even paid people online to push rumors labeling Zora a secret love child.

This elite private school was full of wealthy heirs and socialites, all of whom looked down on illegitimate children and ambiguous adopted offspring alike.

With those two hot topics spreading like wildfire, Zora quickly became the target of everyone’s backlash.

Yet Jolie’s smug mood didn’t last long.

A brand-new forum post shot straight to the top, pinned front and center for every student to

see.

Everyone clicked in, and a heavy awkwardness washed over them instantly.

Zora was neither a secret child nor an adopted daughter-she was officially recognized as a young lady of the Marlow family.

The Marlows and the Knoxes were related by marriage; there was no way the Marlows didn’t know the full truth about the Knox household.

With Reed’s public statement, Zora’s identity could not possibly be fake.

More importantly, the post made it clear that the Knox family had only one biological daughter.

If Zora was the real blood daughter, then what was Jolie?

The post also claimed Jolie had tried to claim the title of the Knox family’s daughter for herself -did that mean she had stolen Zora’s identity?

“What’s Reed even implying here? If Zora’s the real biological daughter, does that mean Jolie isn’t actually blood-related to the Knoxes at all?”

“Reed straight-up called Jolie shameless. Wow, he must be really furious. He’d never humiliate someone like that unless he was truly enraged.

“Chances are our perfect campus belle really isn’t a Knox by birth.

“I always thought Jolie didn’t look anything like the rest of the Knox family. Every Knox has striking good looks, while Jolie’s only plain pretty-she just carries herself well.”

“The Marlows and Knoxes are in-laws. How could he talk about Jolie like that?”

“Even if she’s not blood-related, the Knoxes raised her. They’ve all known each other for years. Reed shouldn’t drag her name through the mud like this.

“What did Jolie even do to deserve this?”

Naturally, plenty of students still stood firmly on Jolie’s side.

The whole school buzzed with endless debate over the viral post.

Jolie’s classmates glanced over at her sitting in the front row.

No one wanted to believe the soft, gentle campus idol could be anything less than perfect.

When Jolie saw the pinned post, her face drained of all color, turning deathly pale. She tightened her grip on her phone, not even noticing her newly done nail art snapping clean off.

Reed!

The warm smile faded completely from her eyes, leaving only icy cold rage.

Her body trembled with fury.

She never thought Reed would be bold enough to go this far, acting without any regard for the Knox family or her feelings at all.

Reed’s words were like a sharp slap straight across her face.

Over in the international program class, everyone let out a collective sigh of relief after reading the clarification post.

Thank goodness Reed stepped up to set the record straight.

Their sweet little angel was clearly in the right.

Now they could finally fire back without holding back.

The international program students rubbed their hands eagerly and began typing away on their phones nonstop.

They hated it when someone from their class got dragged into gossip, but they lived for watching other people’s drama.

“Funny how Jolie always bragged about how irreplaceable she is to the Knox family. Turns out she’s just living someone else’s life and title.”

“Honestly, people have zero shame these days. How do you steal someone’s identity and then drive the real one away? She looks kind and polite on the surface, but she’s rotten right to the core.”

“I can’t believe our gentle, innocent campus belle is actually the one who took someone else’s place. Zora just transferred here and never hurt anyone, so why is she getting targeted out of nowhere? Who’s really behind all these rumors, and who stands to gain the most from dragging Zora down? Some people really hide their true selves behind a pretty face.”

Most students in the international program had never liked Jolie, finding her whole persona nothing but an act.

“Zora, don’t worry. We’ve got your back,” Easton said, looking over at Zora, who was quietly sipping a carton of milk.

Zora’s gaze stayed calm and clear, her delicate face completely blank, as if she was quietly upset about something.

Zora tilted her head in confusion, having no idea what Easton was talking about.

She knew nothing about the chaos blowing up on the campus forum.

New to Havenridge High, she rarely used her phone. Thinking about the Knox family left her feeling uncomfortable, so she pulled a sweet milk drink out of her bag and took slow sips.

Something sweet always helped push thoughts of the Knoxes out of her mind.
