Chapter 60 Jolie’s Long Post
“Z-Zora… here, for you.”
A hand stretched out beside her, holding a milk candy in its palm.
Zora turned to look over.

Seeing she’d been noticed, Maya quickly set the candy down and timidly pulled her hand back.
Zora blinked in confusion.
This girl seemed even shyer than she was.
Zora had always kept to herself and avoided socializing, yet Maya came off as far more socially awkward and timid.
“Thank you.”
Though confused by the sudden gesture, Zora replied politely. She reached into her desk drawer and pulled out a bottle of strawberry milk, sliding it over to Maya.
Reed had packed it for her.
He’d told her there was no shame in struggling with schoolwork, but she couldn’t let herself go hungry. Her backpack was stuffed full of snacks instead of textbooks, just as he’d insisted.
Maya stared at the milk sliding toward her. Hidden behind her thick black-rimmed glasses, her eyes betrayed her fluster. She shrank back slightly, fidgeting nervously with her phone, stealing sideways glances at Zora.
She couldn’t understand why Zora was giving her the milk.
“I appreciate the candy,” Zora said softly.
She hadn’t even gotten a clear look at Maya’s face, but she could read the quiet uncertainty behind those glasses perfectly well.
A candy given, a bottle of milk returned-simple mutual kindness.
“Oh… o-oh, you’re welcome. And thank you for the milk too.”
Relieved to catch Zora’s meaning, Maya let out a quiet breath. She took the milk, nodded slightly, and mumbled her reply.
It seemed the girl next to her had no idea what was blowing up on the campus forum.
With that thought, Maya stopped talking to Zora and opened their class
group
chat.

Maya sent, “Zora doesn’t seem to know anything about the online drama. We need to get those posts taken down fast-let’s keep this from her.”
The group chat fell silent for a beat. No one had expected Zora to be completely in the dark.
All eyes drifted toward Zora. The girl was quietly sipping her strawberry milk, her soft pink lips wrapped around the straw, her expression calm and detached, seemingly oblivious to the outside world.
The internet was exploding with gossip, yet the quiet girl in their class hadn’t even checked her phone once.
For a moment, they didn’t know whether to call Zora a “good girl” or just plain airheaded. It was rare to see someone her age who cared so little about their phone.
The chat quickly buzzed back to life.
Easton replied, “I just hit up Jensen. He said he’ll handle the whole thing.”
Online discussions raged nonstop.
“I’ve always seen Jolie hanging around Reed, but he’s always been so cold to her. Could this be why? Look at these photos-Reed’s smiling so warmly at Zora. You can feel that fondness through the screen! Ugh, I wish I could trade places with Zora right now!”
Someone had dug up candid shots of Zora walking alongside Reed and spread them online.
“Jolie looks really pissed right now. Could all those online rumors actually be true?”
Sitting close to Jolie, a classmate watched the dark, bitter scowl on her face, breaking out in goosebumps.
Jolie had always been gentle and smiling to everyone-she’d never shown such a hostile expression before.
Overhearing the quiet murmurs around her, Jolie’s expression stiffened. She forced her features to soften again, even offering a faint smile to the classmates whispering about her.
The onlooker felt an uncomfortable twinge at how quickly Jolie could flip her demeanor. No one could change their mood that naturally without putting on an act.
Jolie quickly looked away, staring down at her phone and pressing her lips into a tight, bitter line.
She kept her face fixed in a sorrowful, hurt expression as she typed furiously on her phone,

“Sorry for taking everyone’s time. I’m posting this to clear up things between Zora and me, and to properly apologize to her.
Zora, our identities being swapped back then was never what I wanted, and I’m truly sorry for everything all over again. I only hope we can get along peacefully from now on.
Please don’t stay mad at me. When you left home, Mom and Dad were heartbroken. I understand if you’re upset about me growing up in your place, but please don’t take that frustration out on our parents.
They never meant to misunderstand you over that drowning incident.
You went to our grandparents’ home after running away, and Mom and Dad have gone twice to ask you to come home. Let’s just go home, okay? Let’s get along. I won’t hold the past against
you.
Let’s stop making our parents suffer because of the tension between us.”
Reed had already exposed the truth about their swapped identities. She couldn’t keep lying anymore, or she’d only embarrass herself later on.
Her only option now was to minimize the damage to her reputation.
Their identities were swapped by mistake, and it had nothing to do with her.
She’d apologized publicly-she’d done everything expected of her.
Zora had chosen to run away on her own. None of it was Jolie’s fault. It was Zora refusing to come home, leaving their parents miserable and heartbroken in her wake.
