Chapter 95 We’re Close Family
He lowered his gaze, looking at Zora softly.
“Alright then… please find me an affordable place. I can’t pay expensive rent.”
Zora fell quiet for a moment, then nodded.

Jensen had been nothing but kind to her lately, and she hated the thought of him worrying over her matters on top of his busy work.
It was fine for him to help look for an apartment anyway; she barely knew her way around Seacrest, and his help would save her plenty of trouble.
“Don’t worry about rent. The place belongs to our family-you won’t have to pay a dime.”
Jensen replied in a warm tone, reaching out to ruffle her hair gently.
“Then I’ll still pay you rent.”
Zora tilted her head up to meet his eyes, her bright, pretty gaze softening into a faint curve.
Even if it was family property, she hated taking things for free.
“Are you trying to keep your distance from me?” A trace of hurt flickered in Jensen’s deep eyes.
“Of course not, Jensen. It’s just… even close family should keep things fair. If I take too much for free, I’ll feel awkward relying on you later on.” Zora shook her head quickly.

She thought paying rent had nothing to do with pushing him away, and she didn’t understand why he’d put it that way.
In Zora’s mind, no one owed you kindness, and no one would give endlessly without limits. Every bond had its breaking point once you took too much, and she didn’t want whatever she had with Jensen to fade away like that.
She truly cared for this cousin; he’d always been good to her.
“You just said we’re close family. We’re blood-related siblings-we don’t need to fuss over little things like this. I’ll always be your safe place to rely on.”
Jensen let out a soft chuckle.
“Is that really how it works?”
Zora felt something was slightly off hearing him speak so seriously.
Still, Jensen was someone she trusted completely, and she always took his words to heart.

Finished
Back at the Knox Villa, none of her three Knox brothers had ever bothered talking to her, let alone guiding her through anything.
But with Jensen, he was calm and patient, always willing to explain the ways of the world to her slowly.
Zora might not be book-smart, but she could tell who treated her well and who didn’t.
Though the logic still felt a little off to her, she’d already started thinking of another way to repay him.
She couldn’t accept his kindness without giving anything back-it never felt right to take what she hadn’t earned.
“If it still bothers you, just give me one more calming herbal sachet. I’ll keep one at home and one in my office.”
Jensen could tell she still felt uneasy, and he didn’t want her stuck on the matter or picking up bad habits of overthinking favors. He simply stroked her hair gently to shift the topic.
“Okay,” Zora agreed right away.
She planned to make him two more later upstairs. Herbal sachets lost their fragrance and effectiveness over time.
Relying on the sachets for sleepless nights was far better than taking medicine all the time— every remedy came with side effects, and it was always best to avoid pills when possible.

Soon after, Opal and the others returned to the Marlow Manor.
Over dinner, everyone learned Zora planned to move out.
“Zora, are you unhappy staying here? Is the food not to your taste? Just tell Paul, and we’ll adjust everything. Why rush to move somewhere else?”
Opal fixed Zora with a look of warm concern.
“It’s nothing like that, Grandma. I’m perfectly happy here. It’s just I’m a senior now, schoolwork’s gotten really heavy. I don’t want to disturb you and Grandpa with my busy schedule.”
Zora spoke carefully, using lines she’d looked up online and woven together with her true thoughts.
“Disturb us? Having you here makes your grandpa and me so much happier-you’re our little

ray of joy. Ever since you came, the boys have all been coming home far more often too.”
Opal tried to persuade her, glancing over at Jensen and the other boys.

Fired
Before Zora had arrived at the manor, all three boys had their own places in the city and rarely stayed over.
They only came back every day now because they worried about Zora and wanted to check on
her.
“Grandma, Zora’s right. Senior year is such a crucial, stressful time. She needs peace and quiet to rest properly. Teachers always say we should indulge seniors a little and keep them from feeling upset-it makes the pressure so much harder to bear otherwise.”
Jensen caught the silent plea in Zora’s eyes and smiled, stepping in to back her up.
“Yeah, Grandma. If Zora stays here, your endless nagging might wear her out. She should move into the campus apartment with me-it’s super close to Havenridge High anyway.”
Reed raised his hand to side with Zora.
He loved being out and about, living freely. Being cooped up at home every day would only stifle her.
“You cheeky boy! I never nag you at all, and I certainly wouldn’t waste my breath on someone like you.”
Opal shot Reed a sharp glare.
“Grandma, Zora’s studies come first right now. Senior year is already tough enough, and we should support whatever decision she makes.”
