The Rejected Principessa Returns novel Chapter 75

Chapter 9

I looked at this unhinged woman and took a step back.

“You are wrong.”

“First, I do not have the time and I am not that petty.”

“Second, your whole family posted that entire vacation on social media for the world to see. You did this to

yourselves.”

She was not listening. She just lunged, her hands like claws.

“It was you! Who else could it be?”

“You just cannot stand to see Nathan succeed! I will kill you!”

Just as her hand reached me, Nathan appeared, grabbing her in a desperate hug.

He looked even worse than at the gate. Unshaven, his suit crumpled, his face a mask of pure exhaustion.

“Mom! Stop it! What are you doing?!”

He strained to hold her as she thrashed, his voice cracking.

“Let me go! She ruined your career! This is all her fault!”

“She threatened you! Of course she reported you!”

Sophie was twisting wildly in his arms, screaming.

“It was not her! Ella has nothing to do with this!”

Nathan roared it, his voice breaking.

“It was a rival at my office! He has been looking for a reason to get me fired for months!”

“It had nothing to do with her! Please, Mom, just stop!”

That stopped her cold. Her struggling just… ceased.

Nathan looked up at me, his eyes a mess of shame, guilt, and something else I could not name.

He opened his mouth, but all that came out was a hoarse whisper.

“I am sorry… are you okay?”

I did not answer. I just watched the pathetic scene play out.

Sophie seemed to deflate, her rage gone, just muttering.

“How could it be a colleague…?”

Nathan half-dragged, half-carried her away.

Mia let out a shaky breath. “Ella, are you alright?”

I shook my head, watching them disappear down the street.

I thought that would be the end of it. I had no idea how much chaos she was capable of.

Apparently unable to accept her son’s ruined career, she went back to his office.

She stormed past the front desk, screaming that management had slandered her son.

She literally threw a tantrum on the floor, demanding they reinstate Nathan and pay for emotional distress.

That spectacle, of course, was the final nail in Nathan’s coffin.

It was supposed to be just a temporary suspension for an internal review. But after Sophie stormed into the

office and made a scene, things spiraled out of control.

The higher-ups were furious and immediately fired Nathan.

When I heard the news, I was finalizing my divorce petition.

I could not help but feel a pang, remembering how thrilled he was when he got that offer letter.

But their drama was no longer my problem.

They had it coming-every bit of it.

But the day before I was set to file, a package arrived. It was the divorce agreement, already signed by

Nathan.

A month later, it was finalized.

The day I walked out of the courthouse, the weather was beautiful.

Nathan followed me out, looking even more broken down than before.

He called my name. His voice was raw.

“Ella… will I… Will I still be able to see our son?”

I stopped and turned. My gaze was calm.

“I am moving abroad with my parents. I am taking over the family business, and I am taking him with me.”

“I will not stop you from visitations. You can coordinate them through my assistant, Mia.”

He opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He just gave a single, defeated nod.

I heard later that he bounced between jobs, never satisfied. He finally moved his parents to a smaller,

cheaper city to start over.

The past was finally over.

We were two parallel lines, never to cross again. We were both free.

It’s just that my new life no longer had a place for him.

It was only me, my son, and the family that truly loves me.
