Brie also nodded and quietly accepted the pile of gifts.

Holding a stack of gifts, Danica asked curiously, Daddy, why aren’t you coming up with us?”

Vance patted Danica’s head and casually lied, “I’m getting older, and my chess skills have declined. I can only place my hopes on you kids now.”

His chess skill was worse than Aspen’s. Even if Henry’s students allowed him inside, he would feel too embarrassed to go.

So, he decided not to tell the kids the truth. Otherwise, it would be hard for him to maintain authority in front of them later.
