To make sure Cassia could take the pill and walk onto the court the next day without any issues, Draven hadn’t slept last night. He used every connection he had and searched worldwide overnight just to find Jake.
Luckily, Jake happened to be in Zrario, and he had exactly one pill left.
It was obvious how much effort Draven had put into her.
That was what truly touched Cassia. In her 18 years of life, no one had ever treated her like that before. Draven was the first.
Draven felt awkward under Cassia’s gaze.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
Cassia suddenly smiled. “Back at the gemstone market, didn’t you see him passing out cash gifts?”
Draven’s eyes widened slightly. “What?”
She chuckled and pulled out a small plastic bottle from her bag–the same kind Draven was holding.
But unlike Draven’s bottle with just one pill, Cassia opened hers to reveal a bottle filled to the top.
She’d been bored at home the past few days and made them herself.
“You…”
Draven stared at her bottle, then looked at his own.
His eyes went back and forth between them.
They were the same.
And hers was full.
He looked a little dazed.
“Don’t waste money like that again,” Cassia said with a gentle smile, her eyes curving into pretty crescents.
Good. She’s smiling again.
Draven blinked.
That meant he could still share happiness and sadness with her.
At the same time, he remembered something. Back at the gemstone market, she did call Jake over to pass out cash gifts, saying it was for good luck.
His attention had been on her the whole time. He hadn’t noticed Jake at all.
Draven stood up and stepped outside the ward to pour her a cup of warm water.
“Thank you,” Cassia said.

She took one pilt from the bottle, popped it into her mouth, accepted the water from Draven, and swallowed It.
After setting the cup aside, she said, “Alright. Ready to go?”
Draven checked his watch.
It was 9:20 a.m. There were ten minutes left before her match.
“Okay. Let’s go.”
Draven helped Cassia off the bed smoothly and naturally.
She was surprised to realize she didn’t resist his closeness anymore.
Still, she instinctively said, “You don’t have to. I’m already healed.”
“Still gotta help. That medicine doesn’t work instantly,” Draven said, keeping a light but firm hold.
Once she was standing, he called in the nurse who had been waiting quietly outside.
Everything for the volleyball match had already been prepared under his instructions.
The nurse brought over the backpack.
Cassia walked up and instinctively reached for it.
“I’ll carry it.
“The match is about to start. Don’t put stress on your arm.”
Before she could respond, Draven slung the backpack over his shoulder and walked toward the door.
He stopped, turned back, and said, “Let’s go.”
Cassia puffed out her cheeks helplessly and followed him.
Zrario Sports Center.
Victoria sat with Danica and Brie in Zrario High’s seating area, watching the match.
The matches were already in full swing.
Brie watched a few matches between other schools and felt bored.
She wasn’t really into volleyball. She was here to see Cassia embarrass herself.
She turned to Danica.
Danica was watching with excitement, clapping along with the crowd whenever something exciting happened.
Brie tapped Danica’s shoulder.

“Danica, our school is in the last group, right?”
Danica looked back. “Yeah. Once this match ends, it’ll be our turn.”
Then she snorted disdainfully. “But it doesn’t matter. We’ll probably forfeit anyway.”

“If Cassia hadn’t gotten hurt, that wouldn’t have happened…” Brie said, acting concerned. “By the way, she’s in the hospital. Should we go backstage and tell Mr. Hoge?”
“Why should we?” Danica replied without looking away. “She’s the one who got hurt. She should say it herself. Not our problem.”
Brie had only said it for show. She didn’t actually want to go.
Honestly, it was better to say nothing.
But Victoria felt a twinge of guilt.
After all, Cassia had been injured because of her.
Victoria called out, “Danica, go tell your teacher that Cassia hurt her arm last night and is in the hospital. She won’t be able to come.”
Danica looked annoyed, but her grandmother had spoken.
She sighed. “Fine, I’ll tell Mr. Hoge.”
With that, Danica stood up and headed toward the backstage area.
