Back then, he was just a teenager with a hero complex. Without thinking about whether he could fight them, he let the alcohol give him a boost and charged in front of the girl.
He was so drunk that he couldn’t see her face clearly, but he just knew she had to be pretty. Otherwise, why would those creeps be bothering her?
His memory of the fight was a blur. He just remembered taking on the whole group at once.
One guy against five or six? He was obviously losing.
Someone told him that in a group fight, you should pick one target and keep h didn’t remember who told him that, but he followed the idea and focused on one guy.
He must’ve pushed that guy too far, because the guy suddenly pulled out a knife and tried to stab him.
If the girl hadn’t grabbed him and pulled him back at the last second, he would have died right there.
And after that…
“Ahhh!”
“Ugh!”
The thugs‘ painful screams snapped Aspen out of his thoughts.
He looked ahead, and his eyes widened.
Cassia had already taken all of them down. They were all flat on the ground, squirming like
worms.
The scene looked painfully familiar.
His gaze shifted to Cassia.
Her slim figure slowly overlapped with the small figure in his memory.
Was it her?
Aspen stared at Cassia in shock.

After finishing off the guys, Cassia glanced back at him once.
Just one look. Then she turned away and started walking toward Dunstino Bay.
Aspen was still stuck in shock and disbelief.
Was it really her?
Six years ago, the age matched. But back then, Cassia was supposed to be living in an orphanage hundreds of miles away from the city, right?
He remembered Vance saying the orphanage was locked down all day.
So, was he just missing that girl? Was Cassia just a coincidence? Just his imaginatio
Aspen tried hard to remember the girl’s face from back then.
But the more he tried, the more his mind went blank.
By the time he snapped out of it, Cassia was already gone.
Aspen rubbed the back of his hand and looked again in the direction she left.
He had to find out the truth.

Cassia returned to Dunstino Bay and went into Sterling’s house.
“Cassia…”
“Hm? What’s wrong?” Cassia had just finished the hypnosis session and was putting her pen back in her bag.
“Y–you said it’s best … to take me out for fresh air more often, right?”
Cassia turned to look at Sterling, quietly waiting for him to continue.
Sterling looked a bit nervous, fidgeting with the edge of his shirt, and said, “I checked the weather … and it looks good the day after tomorrow. Maybe… we could go out of town a few people?”
Cassia thought it was a great idea. More than that, she was incredibly proud of him.

own was a huge step forward!
“Okay. We’ll bring Draven and Seven too,” Cassia said gently, rubbing the boy’s small head.
“Okay!”
Sterling’s eyes widened and he showed a big, toothy grin.
After the session, Cassia went back to her own place. She sat on the living room couch, picked up her phone, and logged into her online chess app to unwind.
As soon as she logged in, she got a message from Randy.
“Did you take Aspen as your student?”
Cassia replied, “Are you still half–asleep?”
Randy just replied with ellipses.
Since Cassia didn’t reply, Randy sent another text.
“The whole chess community is going crazy, saying a legendary player took Aspen as their student.”
Cassia replied, “You believe that?”
Randy thought to himself, I knew it. Based on Cassia’s relationship with Aspen, she would never take him as a student.
Even if there wasn’t any awkward history between them, with Cassia’s cold, “don’t bother me” attitude, she wouldn’t accept Aspen.
In Randy’s opinion, Aspen wasn’t qualified to be Cassia’s student.
Maybe he was barely qualified, but he already had Henry as a teacher.
