Seven didn’t care whether Sterling was listening or not. He shoved a sandwich into the boy’s hands and kept talking nonstop.
“There’s more good food here. Take a look. What do you want? Want some milk? I even brought yogurt. Strawberry, plain, peach–pick whatever flavor you like.”
Draven opened a box of strawberries and turned to look at Cassia. She was staring in one direction. Curious, he followed her gaze.
On a narrow, tree–lined path nearby, a few people were riding bicycles.
They looked rushed, like they were heading to work.
“What are you looking at?” Draven asked.
It was an ordinary scene. He couldn’t tell what had caught her attention.
“Bicycles,” Cassia said, her eyes still on the riders.
“Want to try?” Draven glanced toward the roadside.
A few small green shared bikes were parked there.
Cassia looked away and frowned. “I don’t know how.”
“You don’t?” Seven blurted out in shock. “Ms. Wood, you’ve got to be kidding. You know medicine, you play the piano, you understand gemstones, you play chess, and you can sing, play volleyball, and even design jewelry. You’re good at so many awesome things, and ride a bike?”
Draven shot Seven a look.

Most of that was true, but there was one thing he didn’t agree with. Chess.
He had played chess with her before. To put it nicely, her skills were still below beg..
level.
And besides-
“Do you really think she has to be good at everything?” Draven said coolly. “Not knowing one thing is normal.”
Seven froze. “Oh!”

He had only said one sentence and already got shut down by his boss.
As expected–a full–on wife protector.
Seven pouted and turned to Sterling.

“What about you? Can you ride?”
Sterling didn’t answer. He just took another bite of his sandwich.
Cassia didn’t care about what Seven had said. Her eyes were fixed on the green bikes not far
away.
Draven watched her from the side.
He could tell she wanted to try.
“I’ll teach you,” he said.
He stood up and walked toward the bikes.
Cassia hadn’t planned to try, not really. But when she saw Draven go over, she stood followed him.

After unlocking the bike with his phone, Draven pushed the green bike in front of her.
“Get on. I’ll hold it for you.”
Cassia nodded and swung her leg over smoothly. Her movement was clean and confident. She gripped the handlebars and looked down at the front and back wheels.
She had never tried riding a bike before. One reason was that no one had ever held it for her. Another was that it didn’t feel safe. There were only two wheels. Her feet couldn’t touch the ground once they were on the pedals.
How was she supposed to stay balanced? How did people even ride something like this?
Back when Cassia first got into car racing, she figured out how to drive a race car almost right away. The first time she entered a junior racing championship, she won the title with ease.
To her, drifting with all–wheel drive and sliding through sharp turns was easier than riding a bicycle.
Right now, Cassia’s face was as serious as it could be.

Draven rarely saw her like this–so focused and tense.

In his memory, the girl was always calm and unbothered, carrying herself like a bigwig. Very few things ever shook her mood.
At that moment, he felt like he had taken one small step closer to her.
“Go ahead. Try it,” he said softly. “I won’t let go.”
Cassia didn’t relax after hearing that. Instead, her brows knitted even tighter.
She stared at the wheels of the little green bike. Compared to racing tire whole different level, and not in a good way.

Ring, ring!
A bike bell sounded behind her.
Cassia turned her head and saw an elderly woman, probably in her sixties, riding past at an
easy pace.
Soft pink peach blossoms fell into the basket on the old woman’s bike.
There were blossoms in that basket, and there were blossoms in Cassia’s basket too.
Cassia lowered her gaze to the petals in her basket, then looked around.
Red blossoms filled the sky. Under the spring breeze, petals drifted down now and then like a gentle rain.
After watching for a few seconds, Cassia placed one foot on the pedal.
