Chapter 44 The Hidden Ace

A faint smile tugged at the corner of Cassia’s mouth. We’ll see who really loses today.

Cassia looked around the room and nodded. “Fine. But if someone needs to apologize, I want it done in front of the whole school.”

Selena froze. She didn’t expect Cassia to be this confident.

Harold glanced at her and agreed, “Alright. No problem.”

He told three subject teachers to bring in a set of test papers.

Since this was already 12th grade, they had plenty of extra exams on hand.

Selena made sure to choose the hardest ones.

She wanted to crush Cassia’s confidence.

Soon, all three teachers had prepared the tests.

Cassia took the papers and skimmed through them.

Harold pointed to a seat with a camera above it and several teachers standing nearby.

The school was taking this very seriously. Everyone’s eyes were on her.

Cassia sat down, calm as ever.

She didn’t look nervous at all.

Cassia lowered her head and started working on her test.

She tackled the essay first. She wanted Selena to quiet down once and for all. Her pen moved smoothly, almost like she didn’t need to think. Everything came naturally.

The exam was supposed to take two hours. Cassia finished in less than one.

Latin and math were faster–only thirty minutes each.

The room fell into stunned silence.

No way. Did she just scribble random answers?

Selena was frozen. She had watched Cassia the whole time.

Nothing about her looked like someone who would score zero.

Cassia stood and handed the papers to Harold without hesitation. “I’m done.”

“You don’t want to check anything?” Harold asked out of habit.

“No. You should grade it now. Class is almost over,” Cassia replied casually.

Harold passed the tests to the teachers. “Let’s grade these quickly.”

Selena snatched hers right away.

She was by far the most eager. She looked at Cassia’s test and stopped cold.

Cassia had filled in every answer.

But filling it in didn’t mean it was right.

Selena forced herself to stay calm and began grading.

Question one–correct. Question two–correct. Question three–also correct.

With every question, Selena felt more and more lost. This wasn’t what she expected at all.

Impossible. These questions aren’t easy. How is she getting them right?

Thinking she must’ve made a mistake, Selena checked even more carefully.

But when she reached the end, her face had turned pale.

In all her years teaching, she had never seen answers this perfect. Not once.

Then came the essay. Also flawless. Terrifyingly flawless.

The closer she got to the end, the darker Selena’s expression became.

By the last check mark, she turned restless. And every time her pen made another tick, her frustration grew.

How is this even possible? Is Cassia secretly a hidden top student?

No one could believe it. She didn’t look like one at all.

Just then, Harold walked over. “So? What did you get?”

Selena frowned hard. She was still checking the paper, searching for a mistake.

It was the first time she had ever doubted her grading.

After reviewing the essay several times and finding nothing wrong, she slowly stood up. Her voice trembled. “148 marks. I only deducted two points from her essay.”

The other two teachers stood up as well, both sounding excited. “Perfect score for math and Latin!”

The room fell silent. The teachers stared at one another, shocked. Their emotions twisted together like a jar of mixed spices–confused, stunned, overwhelmed.

Cassia’s blue eyes shimmered. A tiny, mocking smile tugged at her lips. She stood up. “Mr. Bell, can I go now?”
